sir i have to ask in the problem you have solved for max shear stress in formula you have used the t= 0.1" why did we use this thickness instead we could have used the bigger one thickness which is 0.200"...?

Hafizmonisahmed, great question! The maximum shear stress in the cross section occurs in the thicker flange, as you apparently noticed. However, the example problem asked for the maximum shear stress in the lower flange, which had a thickness of 0.100", which is why that thickness was used. I do not recall why I asked for the shear stress in the lower flange only. This may have been a problem where I walked students through a more complete set of questions, and for whatever reason I truncated the other parts of the question that calculated the max shear stress in the upper flange, followed by a question about the max shear stress in the entire section. As written, a casual student could get misled, so I will strive to replace this video with a more comprehensive example soon. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
