Billy, the tracker, abandoned his weapon and took out his knife to cut himself to indicate to the Predator that he denied the Predator of spilling first blood. -OG
In many Native American tribes, the warriors would cut the chest as a way to say, "this is my heart, the heart of a warrior". He stayed to die not running in fear but standing his ground like a true honorable warrior. This movie did a great job honoring Native American and modern U.S. Military warriors.
@@ptthatswhatshesaid not only his skull, but his spine as well. Taking just the head means the Predator considers you a good opponent, but taking the head and spine is almost the highest sign of respect a Predator can show a fallen opponent.
13:24 Crazy bastard "I aint got time to bleed" guy later became governor of Minnesota, similar to Arnold becoming governor of California. So Predator had two future governors in the cast.
Defennetly Arnold's best role. And the the movie, best barbarian movie ever made. Got propably the most epic soundtrack also... once you hear it, you never forget it.
And the guy who played Arnold's father in " Conan William Smith is a legit tough guy Arnold challenged him on set to a arm wrestling match knowing his tough guy background And William Smith beat Arnold in front of the set broke his arrogant ego William Smith also got into a real fight with tough aussie legit tough guy Rod Taylor in the movie Darker than amber " both guys lost their temper so that fight scene is real
@@ptthatswhatshesaidYea it happens so fast. And you guys aren't alone. Everyone who sees it for the first time asks the same question. Hell, this is probably my favorite movie of all time, and it took me like 15 years to realize. I always just figured Arnold plot armor 😅.
When challenging for position in a tribe, drawing first blood to decide the winner is a way to avoid fighting to the death. Billy using his machete to draw his own blood meant that drawing first blood would not decide the fight about to happen. The fight would be to the death.
If you want to see Schwarzenegger as a funny guy, you have to see "True Lies". Also his co-stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Tom Arnold are great too. Very fun movie and a different side of Arnie.
I'm glad they don't reveal too much about the Predator in this movie. They say less is more. The less you know about the Predator, the scarier he becomes. But it's also twofold. The less you know about the Predator, the more you want to know what makes him tick! It's the perfect formula for a sequel! -OG
I saw Predator in the theater, and afterwards I was primed for the sequels to get my questions answered. I didn't know it would take years for the sequels to be released.
Predator mimicking and taunting Dutch's men is not only intimidating but downright scary, too! Especially when the Predator uses Billy's laugh at the end of the film before the Predator nuked himself! -OG
I think I was 2 years old when this movie came out. Watched it with bf recently after seeing another reaction. He said I reminded him of Lucy. We both talked too much! Haha 😅
“Ooohh , wow , look at that ! “ says Lucy when she sees the soldiers strung up skinned alive. “Ooohh no , I can’t look , it’s too horrible !” When she sees a scorpion get stepped on.
I just realized the poster for "Predator" has a tank in it for some odd reason and what looks like a building being blown up instead of a hut in the jungle. Regardless of those misleading clues, Lucy still accurately described 80% of the movie even though she has never seen it. So, well done, Lucy! 👍😊
I always thought it was a good touch having Dutch not be triumphant at the end but almost broken. On a side note some people question whether the mud would block infrared vision. Firget what channel didbit but they got a bunch of different infrared sxopes and had one guy cover up in mud like Arnold did and it did block the Infrared. The fuy in mud had people walk very close to him and just miss him.
Kevin Peter Hall portrayed the preditor. He was also the helicopter pilot at the end. They wanted show who played the part. Unfortunately he passed away a few years after this film. He was 35 I believe. Interesting analysis of the film by y'all. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
The sound editing in Predator was outstanding. In a movie theater with a big screen, the audience often knew where the camouflaged Predator was by the placement of sound effects, movement or rustling of leaves or the sound of branches breaking. This was smart movie making, whatever the budget was.
I saw this movie on TV when I was 8 years old and remind me of a re-occurring dream I had where I was chased or pursued by something but couldn't tell what it was. I asked my folks what it meant and they said it was me about to face a challenge or something.
Special Operation teams train an insane amount so they can predict each other's moves and preferences this is key to their effectiveness; Dillon (Apollo Creed) has been running a desk so long he is out of practice throwing off their routines. These types of teams have and respect rank but in field and off they are brothers first rank second. They need to talk and act fast, so ideas need to be conveyed quickly to preserve the mission effectiveness and safety of team members. Jesse Venture the "sexual tyrannosaurus" who operates "old painless", was a Navy Seal in real life who served in Vietnam war.
Didn't knew Ventura had been a navy seal 🤨 interesting It makes a lot of sense that they have to be very familiar with each other in order to be as efficient as possible yeah
@@ptthatswhatshesaid... and Ventura and Schwarzenneggar were both state governors. Carl Weathers in "Happy Gilmore" was still missing an arm. Jean Claude Van Damme was originally the Predator in a thick rubber lizard suit in these jungle scenes. He quit because it was killing him.
Since you've seen Aliens I do recommend AvP. But you have to see Predator 2 before Prey. Otherwise it will be a little confusing. Everyone always gets interested on how they combine the two franchises. It's like quicksand it sucks you in. Great reactions, congratulations on growing your channel!
When the Predator used his plasma shoulder cannon on Arnold's character, the Predator simply aimed for Arnold's weapon. Which is why Arnold only sustained a flesh wound. Unlike Dillon. Who got his arm completely blown off. -OG
Every woman who sees this movie- has gained that new catch phrase: I ain’t got TIME to bleed 🩸 Funnily enough, you’re not the first one to say Hawkins won’t be making any more poosay jokes
Imagine a game hunter in Africa or South America. They consider it a challenge to go after something which is hard to get. That's what the predator is. They hunt for sport, which is why it didn't go after you if you were unarmed. No challenge.
Loved this reaction to one of the best Sci-Fi action films ever made in my humble opinion, and Lucy's reaction to this film is how most non Sci-Fi fans react to it but they still enjoy the film though, but her interest was certainly peaked when the skinned bodies were shown but I think she's mentioned in the past how she enjoys crime drama shows, also the actor who played the Predator was a guy called Kevin Peter Hall and he was 7'2" tall, but sadly he passed away in 1991, but he can be seen as the helicopter pilot at the end of the film, The Predator was originally going to be played by Van Damme, but was dropped because he was a lot shorter than the rest of the cast, but if you search on RU-vid they're clips of Van Damme in a very different looking Alien costume, and both Van Damme and the creature design were replaced, The creature seen in the film was created by Stan Winston and you can thank James Cameron for the mandibles he was sitting next to Stan on a plane as he made sketches of the creature and James said he always wanted to see a creature with mandibles so Stan added them to the finished design, And I subbed to your channel because of your LOTR reactions I love the films but I understand they are not for everyone, also did I hear The Thing is coming up at some point brilliant one of the best Sci-Fi horrors ever made Lucy will love the effects in the film.
Yes, when she saw the skinned bodies she was all in! 😂😂 she really enjoyed it 👌 I just can't imagine Van Damme in this movie 🤔 The Thing has to come up at some point of course! I've been putting it in polls since the beginning xD
I think this is such a unique film. It starts out as a typical 80s war movie and then changes genre and becomes a horrific gore monster film who also happens to be an extraterrestrial!! -OG
That's what makes it so great! The first part is absolutely essencial, showing how badass the team is, and then it's like they are just prey for that invincible hunter from outer space!
Arnold dominated the action movies of the 80s. But he was always so much bigger and stronger 💪 than his opponents. It was never a question if Arnold would win in the end. However, Predator was different. We actually wondered if Arnold would make it out alive 🤔!! It helped to have a 7'3" tall actor to play the Predator to create that intimidation to Arnold's muscles. Kevin Peter Hall played the Predator. He also played Bigfoot in Harry and the Henderson's. It's a fun family film. I highly recommend it. 👌 -OG
Many people don't know this, but the Terminator was to date the only movie 🎥 where Arnold Schwarzenegger played the villain!! That's because he has a clause in his contract for only playing the good guy in movies!! 😮
there are versions of the script and some deleted scenes that make Arnold Schwarzenegger character in Predator the model and basis for the Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 or the T-800 in Terminator 3 there is a deleted scene which kind of make fun of the fact. the studios kept trying to merge Terminator Predator and Alien to have a shared universe
@@ptthatswhatshesaid it's a pretty interesting concept James Cameron and Ridley Scott and I think the studio was Fox at the time wanted to make the shared cinematic universe basically be a time loop / Paradox the Predator created the xenomorphs for there sport / ritual and when earth found out about them and there existence they invested into to the tech to fight and study them making the Terminator Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 based off the one soldier that fought one and won but eventually the AI developed time travel making the story a whole time loop / self fulling prophecy. I don't think it ever got out of development hell but they basically use the concept in all the Terminator movies that its just a endless time loop / self fulling prophecy
LOL i have watched countless reactions to this flick and NOBODY ever mentioned what SHE mentioned !! its TRUE .. i never noticed myself. .. the MUSIC they use could just as well be in parts for a CLOWN show. for a funny movie .. AND the HUGE GUN ..the MINI GUN is totally IMPRACTICAL for a jungle scenario and has a fire time of about 30 to 45 seconds. after that u have to CARRY this huge ass thing ( 40 KG ) because you cannot destroy it because they are very expensive and you dont want this weapon to fall into rebel hands. so in a LAST MAN scenario you would have to destroy it with a grenade . but its not said u cant repair the damage and re use it on a jeep or a helicopter for example..
Well, there are parts were I agree that the music seems way to distractingly loud and weird yeah 😅 That mini gun just looks cool and badass! Taking that into consideration, I have nothing against it being in the movie 😂😂 even if it doesn't make sense!
There are reasons why the Predator takes either the skin, or the spine and skull of its prey. 🤔 I don't think it would be a spoiler to say that when the Predator only skins its prey, it's a show of contempt that the prey was too easy to kill and didn't put up much of a fight. The reasons for taking the spine and skull are revealed in the sequels. As far as Lucy's question, "Why would they do Predator versus Alien?" The answer is very logical, but she would first have to watch "Predator 2" to have enough backstory to understand what is happening in "Alien vs Predator (AVP)." But I think AVP is an excellent blend of two different sci-fi franchises and makes both of the storylines much more interesting. During the meantime, it was very enjoyable to see her first-time reaction to this franchise. Hopefully, you will do more of them. 👍😊
Good one and a nice reaction. You got all the important clues. Awesome and one of the greatest movies of all time. Greatest creature of all time. Team Predator! Some info on predator if interested. - The yautja(Predator) does not play sports. They hunt! They hunt for the best kill to earn their place in the clan. They have a strict honor code! The more powerful hunt they get, the more satisfied they are. Each predator has a unique character just like people. Predators can survive on earth-like planets for a week without a helmet and use it as a breathing apparatus. Helmets give them different kinds of visions, controls, etc. A Predator that does its first hunt is an Unblooded. After its successful 1st Alien hunt they are blooded and receive the shoulder cannon. Each earns and chooses their weapons after some hunts. Oh, and the life of an average Predator is more than 1000-10000 years if it survives. They don't hunt something that is unarmed. There are also some rouges. They are called Bad blood and predators don't like bad blood! The pilot(Kevin Peter Hall) in the last scene is the one who played Predator!
Mac sounds crazy climbing the hill and going after the Predator chanting. I'm going to have me some fun over and over again, but it is not being crazy. "I'm gonna have me some fun" is part of the lyrics of the song we heard in the beginning on the chopper. Mac's best friend was into music. We saw his MTV shirt before the Predator blew his chest open. Mac is on a quest for revenge. To settle a score. Dillon feels the same but for different reasons. This is Dillon's quest for redemption. His time in the CIA has corrupted him, and he's betrayed his friend. -OG
the sci-fi element is present throughout the movie, but I would say it starts like a military action film of the 80's and then yeah, it's slasher time!
Did Lucy say she likes "detective shows?" If yes, then I think she will love Predator 2, because it's kind of like a detective movie, except the bad guy is an alien.
The Predators "bullet" that hit Dutch didn't hit him. It hit his weapon to disarm him. Since Dutch, being the last of his team, the Predator wants to show him respect and fight him hand to hand. He chose to destroy his weapon to get Dutch to where he could do that.
What a cast! RIP Apollo Creed, Dillon Carl Weathers, may u live on forever! Jesse Ventura was an ex operator and actually bigger than Arnold, and they were never filmed standing together! Bill duke was an amazing actor...juliard trained and amazing in American jiggolo! Billy was a complete wildman and had 2 guys for 24/7 security. Not for his protection but to keep him out of trouble!! The helicopter pilot is the Predator! They gave him one speaking line, so he could get a film credit and his sag card! There's many more predator films and Alien vs Predator! There's also a much larger tie in here. Aliens predators humans Replicants and Terminators are all related by a race of beings called Engineers, discussed in the movie Prometheus! In the 80-90s, Arnold was the absolute movie king of the one liners/memes! So many to repeat, but the most repeated line and meme in history is, " I'll be back!" Hard to believe this movie is almost 40 years old! A future governor of California, Minnesota and candidate for Kentucky in this! Bill Paxton RIP, in part 2, is the only person in Hollywood, who was killed by a Terminator predator and Alien! There's a larger tie in here. In Prometheus the prequel to all. The being in the chair with it's chest blown out is a Engineer. Engineers seed life on planets and watch the progression. If they don't like how the life is progressing they seed another life to wipe out the remaining then they destroy each other. Engineers created humans Aliens and supposedly Predators and gave humans the technology for Replicants and Terminators!! Also Weyland Corp, Tyrell Corp and Cyberdyne Systems. In shotts in this movie u see resumes of the Crew. Dallas worked for Tyrell Corp 😮😮😮 That's Bladerunner! Cyberdyne Systems supplied tech for Tyrell Corp and Weyland Corp! Weyland Corp did industrial and flight operations for Tyrell Corp! Tyrell Corp is Bladerunner and Weyland Corp is Aliens! Cyberdyne Systems is Terminator!
What I like about this movie is the "shoe on the other foot" message when the hunter has all the advantages, using mimicry (like a duck or turkey call lol) and is taking the trophy to hang on the wall? It ain't no fun when the rabbits got the gun.
Hmm let's see... Predator 1 Predator 2 Predators Prey 1 Prey 2 and surely coming in a few years... Predatating! :) "A chopper.!.... [grenade launcher explodes it]... no more chopper." I love that Stranger Things paid homage to many movies and TV shows of the 80s, Jim Hopper for example, being named after the missing elite team leader we see the dog tags to with the strung up skinned men) Fantastic reactions, thank yous!
The testosterone is on overdrive in this film. Also, you have two former governors. Arnold Schwarzenegger became governor of California. Jesse "the body" Ventura, once a professional wrestler, became governor of Minnesota.
@@ptthatswhatshesaid I read an article that reported "Billy" had an aggressive personality when he was around other Alpha males, and since this movie is loaded with those type of men, he apparently tried to pick fights with them until he was assigned a handler to keep him out of trouble. The article also said that in this movie, "Billy" is very rarely shown in the same scene with other actors because of this problem. In the scene where "Dutch" grabs "Billy" to snap him out of his fixation on what he senses may be in the trees, "Billy" jerks his head around like he's enraged that "Dutch" touched him. I think that may have been a scene where it came close to being a fight between the actors. Anyway, that's what I read about that actor. I've forgotten his name, but I know he died several years ago.

A lot of the people in this movie became politicians. Not sure if it’s true but I have heard that there was security around the actor for Billy. Not for him but to protect others from him
Hi you two, this is fun. I want to make the case that the newest installment in the Predator franchise, Prey ,is as good as Predator 2 and if you continue this journey, please make sure you watch it either next or right after number two. There are many sequels that aren't great but Prey being a prequel is a fantastic movie and shouldn't be lumped in with the others. The ideal order is this, then number 2, and then Prey. Keep up the excellent content!👍👍
Not sure if this music was supposed to be funny- just wait for Commando, which was in direct competition with Rambo2 at the time. There’s some music choices in there that’s baffling but awesome too (because it’s Arnie) 😍
If you'd like to see Arnold Schwarzenegger in a bit of a different and more human way try these 2 movies Kindergarten Cop (1990) and Jingle All the Way (1996). These two movies are not Sci-fi or Fantasy. The last Action Hero (1993) could be considered Action/Fantasy.
@@ptthatswhatshesaidBut you got to at least go thru the other Predator episode...not for getting Alien, Don't forget in Alien3 there is a picture of the Predator in the movie. This was done on purpose because they planned the Alien vs Predator movie later
It is quite a quick scene, but it does make sense. Even though it might not be the case that the Predator was aiming at the gun, but that he missed his shot 🤔
I'm sure you were just trying to come of as teasing and being cute but I didn't care for your little smirking almost sarcastic questioning of your gf before it started. She was making some good observations
