This episode cleared away so much of the mystery surrounding contrapuntal techniques. As someone who likes to write music every now and then, I'm grateful to you for your explanation. This may be my favorite video from your channel, and that's saying something!

Very nice and well explained hypothesis. The sequence repetition in fact allows this kind of behaviour and expansion, opposed to the more puzzle-like fugas of late baroque composers as Bach. Congratulations for the approach.

What gorgeous recordings! I was at first simply amazed at how simple, but effective technique was at the beginning, but holy sh!t the more and more examples you provided, I was starting to be completely blown away by how intricate but perfect(?) it sounds. I usually thought I preferred faster renditions of those Monteverdi clips, but holy crap. So far, it's this technique that has most reminded me of "the music of the spheres".
