I have been playing Ragtime, Boogie Woogie as far back in the 1970's when I was a teenager. Later in years I started to improvise with Stride. I know exactly what you mean about looking left to make sure the Bass is right because that is the key to a tight performance. Thanks for this.

Once again, excellent! The essential info in an easily assimilated form. It changed my playing in 45 minutes of practice. Now I must rush off to my eye-doctor, - my eye-muscles ache like fury.

Great info. Always avoided stride. Now that I know the secret, I'll start practicing. Thanks for the lesson.

Thank you so much for this advice on Stride. I was trying to memorise the left hand in early stage practising not thinking that my eyes should follow my left hand. No wonder I was still making mistakes in the left hand jump. Thank you for this advice.

You have to learn to walk before you start running. Thats what most exercising is about. First you may get the precise movement in the fingers 100% perfect at very, very low speeds. When and not before that, you can gradually speed up by so called gradually exponention. Just like many other learning processes in life. You actually build up new structures into the brain that was not there before, and the brain takes time(days and nights)to make that change. Usually that built up proces in the brain, mostly takes place during your sleep. If you challenge the brain to the limit today, tomorrow it will be much better prepared. Its called neurogenesis. Baby sleep on it.

Another trick if you're only playing a single low bass note is that you only have to look down as far as the thumb an octave above the note as if you were playing an octave. Just don't play the thumb.

Are you landing the left hand chords as 5-3-1 usually or 4-2-1? I’ve tried both and not sure if there is a preferred.

The inversion of the chord you land on is really up to the player. I tend to play C Major, for example, in 2nd inversion as that is what I've always played on the Organ. ---- Like my videos?
