Quick down and dirty on the rod and reels, lures, and terminal tackle need to get you trolling this spring. Yozuri shallow diver or PLine Predator and white Zoom Trick Worm. Attached your Trick worm on CENTER end hook. Main line braid to barrel swivel and fluorocarbon leader. Trolling rod with a reel that has a line counter and loud clicker. Send it out 110-130ft (not yards). 4-6mph depending current. Rod tip will tell you how the lure is running. This is a starting point and there is much more to learn. Good luck out there!

I was hoping to know more about the pole for example the action and power of the pole. All I did this morning was take my pole out of the pole holder and pulled on the pole to clear the weeds offf my deep diver and the tip snapped off the pole. I need to know the action etc so I do not buy a pl=ole and have the same thing happen.

I prefer a 7.5-8ft heavier rod for deep divers. Just because they pull harder when trolling. Lamiglass or Okuma with a sensitive tip. Salmon series rods are good for that. My shallow diver rod is a Lamiglass Mark Wilson 7'9" striper special. Not sure if they sell it anymore but maybe something similar.

thanks for sharing your Juice Box info.... that's me never tried trolling before not even trout ... but I've been watching striper fishing at Hogan and they are using LEAD CORE line on lite flies ... ??? can you apply the delta style fishing to a lake setting using braid to a hard bait or A-rig with out going lead core lin ?? what size reel is recommended ?? 3000 /4000 /5000 thanks Dan The Man

So the lead core fishing is "stripping" and works for sure. Lots of physical work but does catch them. Yes, you can apply the same trolling, specifically deep trolling. However, in my limited experience, chasing the school or finding boils have been more productive. The boils you obviously will see, pull up short (not on top of them), cast a shad type lure into the boil. Using your sonar find a school and then dropping a laser minnow down is another way.

On the rear single hook you attach the worm. I know i saw it on the video.. it doesn't effect the bite. I run the deep divers. What size hook and type you place on back. Single hook allows if to troll straighter ?

Typically you can just replace the treble hooks with the same size just make sure the worm is put on the top/bottom dead center for correct tracking. I run an inline single hook but it doesn't make it run any straighter. I use it to get one less treble hook to play with and also easier to just hook my worms on. Doesn't affect the hookup. VMC single inline hook 4/0 or 5/0

Shallow divers 10-15 ft deep?Isnt that where the deep divers are used?
@deltafishco
@deltafishco 5 месяцев назад
Considering the vegetation growth in the delta at 2-3ft from bottom, yes, 10-15ft to keep it from being snagged and in a visible strike zone. I recommend that deep divers be run in that 15-20ft.

I run pline too. But mono. Just purchased a new Coldwater reel. I put clear line on it . Do you think this will be a problem. I don't run braided line. ( I have always been told the braided line has no spring action. Switched to single hook in back of my yo-zuri. Looking forward to catching a big lol. My cold-water reel say 20lbs line on box? Can I run 30lbs with 20lbs leader?

I use Coldwater cw-203D. I see you use a bigger reel

Running 30lb won't be a problem but you'll get less on the spool if that matters to you. As long as you can get at lthe east 130-150 yards on it you should be good.
