Cheers! Just you wait and see. We take on a huge amount to do in the yard but it’s super rewarding to learn from everyone around us. Sit tight for this Sundays episode.

A week of no rain in Trinidad, that is a lot to ask for. Had some good laughs on this video, you two are funny as heck.

Haha, I know right?! So much pressure on getting that rain shield right 🤞🏻 Glad you enjoyed the mayhem! 😆

Hi Guys, we just saw your video were you was hiking in the rainforest on Guadeloupe with Flip Flops. Great job. We can highly recommend the Keen Sandals. Good protection, water proof and good grip. We made some several hikes in desert, rainforest, swampy areas. They are the best.

It was a blast seeing all three falls in one day. Flip flop hiking is the way everyone should do it for sure. Our Gumbies have held up pretty well to the task but I’m sure the keens would be worth a shot some day too. For now tho, you’ll be lucky to find us wearing any shoes at all as we pretty much love bare foot 24-7

Having watched Colin from Parlay Revival doing all the repair work on his hurricane damaged Lagoon 450, I actually understood everything you were doing - not bad for an old land lubber like me 😉

We may end up asking you how we fix things at this rate 😂 it’s crazy how much you can learn from RU-vid alone. We could probably do a better job of explaining ourselves.

@@RedSeas you’re doing a great job with the explanations, nothing to worry about on that count 👍🏻

Actually your Rain shield which hopefully will not be required will have another benefit. Copper coat or indeed any paint does not like dust insects foreign matter etc. This should hopefully cut down on such contamination.

Indeed, that rain shield features a fair bit. It was a mission to construct but I think, well worth it. The funniest thing about coppercoat is that it is closer to epoxy than pain in the way it behaves. So even more susceptible to stay bugs and dust 😬

There was a RU-vidr now sadly deceased(Patrick Childs?) who did an osmosis treatment on his yacht in comparison yours has almost nothing his had literally hundreds of these holes in his hull. He was being the boating legend able to fix them no problem.

Yeah, we were lucky to have gotten off lightly with this not really being osmosis anyway. That said, it wasn’t much fun working around the whole boat sorting it out. We actually bumped into Brickhouse a few months back too. 😀

Patrick was a really lovely guy. Both him and Rebecca spent a week with us while he took a break from working on Brickhouse. Are you guys still in Trinidad ? We left a week ago to come to Tobago but will return in about a week.

Can’t say that I’ve ever seen an epoxy barrier coat like Interprotect sprayed on. It’s doesn’t seem like it would achieve the necessary thickness that way without spraying a ton of coats.
@RedSeas
@RedSeas 2 года назад
Yeah, spraying isn’t that common but we made sure to use a wider nozzle and applied around 5 gallons total to the boat in a bunch of coats. The main benefit is the finish remains very smooth and so easy to key for the finish.

When u guys did all this it needed from the survey initially when u bought it, or from the wreck an u guys got very lucky that it was pd for by the other boat. How often is this needed to be done on a boat
@RedSeas
@RedSeas 2 года назад
This was part of our original plan when we bought the boat. We wanted to replace the traditional ablative antifoul with coppercoat, but you need to start from a gel coat base rather than painting it on top of any existing paint. It’s a big job and one that we hope never to repeat - certainly many sailors would never need to do it in the first place. But fingers crossed it’s all worth it in the end 🤞🏻

I'm an idiot. An idiot who watches a lot of boat videos. Coppercoat is very very fussy about application according to my PhD in RU-vidology. Hope it works for you!
@RedSeas
@RedSeas 6 месяцев назад
You are correct, it is a true challenge to get this right so we were extra detail focused in the application. It seems that it either works brilliantly or not at all. Check out the next few episodes to see how this unfolds for us. It’s not what you expect 😊
