Another great project, your previous one has inspired me to have a first crack at french polishing! 😬

Is there a reason you didn’t use a spray bottle for spirits inside the drawers.

You could do it that way as well. I find it faster my way

Good work on that chest of drawers so far. While I understand you want to keep the old nicks, dents and other character marks that large tea/ink stain does look nasty. Perhaps you might consider using oxalic acid to try at least lighten the stain to make it less obvious?

Hi @stormkhan4250 i understand some Restorers would try to Remove the Stain using a Caustic Solution then using Oxalic Acid to Create a Reaction. It just comes down to individual choice i suppose. I like Stains Chunks and Bumps the more the better and Dark Stain wont be as obvious when polished and will have its Original Rustic Charm

I loathe stripping varnish off old furniture - but love having done it! Such a great feeling revealing beautiful wood (then cracking out the shellac and wax). Funnily enough I use a similar method to you, seems that stripper + meths + wire wool is an effective combo

In an Aussie context this timber wouldn't be Western Red cedar which is an incredibly soft and easily dented wood- used more for making shingles etc.Looks to me like Red Pine which was used a lot as a secondary, inferior timber, usually secondary to Toona Australis( Aussie Cedar) and now is impossible to get.

Do you know What is the Botanical Name of this Red Pine Is ?

Western Red Cedar has been imported since the early 1900's along with californian redwood and Douglas fir (oregon) Our lack of easy working and durable softwoods after the decimation of the Australian cedar forests led to this importation. So a good chance it is WRC

Where did the western red cedar come from? My sister had a number of pieces of furniture made from it in her first house in California.

Its native to the Pacific coast of North America.

Need to figure out how to edit the sound. The traffic noise at high speed is unbearable. 8:58

We are Working On It. We Are Reducing the Noise in Premier Pro as Much as possible while still trying to retain the sounds of working on the furniture. Not much we can do living next to a Main Road and a Bunch Of Harleys Go Riding By.

“Nothing worse that white paint, it soaks right into the wood.” That’s been my life for the last couple of weeks. The white paint on my piece is stronger than the wood and impervious to all varieties of stripper. What a nightmare! As for the race car noises - I honestly thought you had added a Formula 1 audio track to your video to emphasize your speed. 😂

That Pesky White Paint. Methylene Chloride Based Stripper should remove it though. Look for Car Body Shop Supplies they would have a much stronger paint stripper
