I grew up in East NY Brooklyn. I attended Thomas Jefferson High School from 1998-2002. I remember seeing your mother’s pictures on the wall. I never knew her struggle. God bless your family and your mothers hard work. During the late 80s and 90s that school was considered one of the worst schools. She worked hard to changed the lives of kids in that community for her own child to be suffer such injustice.

It's crazy how SOME MEN NOT ALL BUT SOME MEN don't uplift our queens! Whether ya mother sister auntie cousin friend girlfriend wife or transwomen we have got 2 wrap our arms around them to love on them bc u never kno what sum1 else is going thru! Even if u don't really believe it sometimes people need 2 hear things like that bc there is something beautiful about each & every single 1 of us! We gotta kno that 2 our core man! I recently asked my sister my older sis 2 do a vid wit me for my channel right, & she's like no I gotta get my roots twisted then we can do it bc she has micro dreads right. So I'm not miss u pretty people bot even gonna notice dat shit. She then says something 2 me where I cried for her inside & out & I'm bot saying boohoo crying but I teared up for her. She says "Well I never ever felt pretty & my husband's cheating hasn't made it any better" & in that moment my heart broke for her! So I said sis please u are really pretty hell u favor me & I kno I'm cute lol I had 2 make her laugh but in that moment o was hurt for her. Bc she meant that shit & she been wit dis asshole for 23yrs smdh no ma'am dat shit gotta stop!

U should have watched the rest of the film because the facts come out at the end. His sisters car was picked up a week earlier but he still went to the shop twice looking for a fight. He started throwing things around and picked up a hammer and threatened them. The second time he showed up he saw the guy he didn't like and ran into the shop following the guy into a back room and was then shot. He was obviously looking for trouble and he got it. I live on long island and central islip in 1992 was definitely the most violent criminal area we have here. Why would anyone show up to a known criminal hangout and illegal chop shop late at night in central islip?

@MrFmccarty
@MrFmccarty 4 года назад
Carrie Bizz why as mankind should justice need to be exacted. It should be next to every persons first nature NOT to commit to anything that destroys human life. We see the narrative in the Bible on Cain and Able. The first time I heard it I focused on why. There was no reason. God could be blamed because of a design flaw in man. It is called FREE WILL. THAT SUMS IT UP IN A NUT SHELL. GOD DID NOT EXACT JUSTICE ON CAIN HE PUT IT ON HIS CONSCIENCE. THAT SAME GUILT RESIDES IN EVERY PERSON WHEN EVER WE CROSS THAT SAME LINE CAIN DID. Some people live well with their ugliness. Some people live well with hate reigning in every breath they breath. We are designed to be better in every way than this. Some people think they are God. But some of us are and want to be God’s in the possessive state, and we are! Let not your heart be troubled. In all things protect your heart.. be blessed because we are.

I found that my being hispanic was not liked by my family, some African American women and Caucasians. I married an African American man and I was treated horribly by the women. I felt like I didn't belong anywhere. I came out alright. I learned to navigate around all that indifference. I hope you were able to make a life for yourself that would make you contented. It was hard for me in the beginning. After I raised my children and saw that they were in a good place, I found my peace and learned to live alone. I have a few friends and stay out of the way. We have to be careful to recognize the opportunity and progress we have and we must see the power inside of each and every one of us to control our own narrative...we have more power and access to resources than at anytime in history...I refuse to compare my struggles to my grandparents struggles...does racism still exist? Will it always exist? I just finished watching this documentary and am so broken hearted by this story. It started with divine love between a man and a woman with so many hopes and dreams for their children. I feel that Yance's family, in heaven, are very proud of what he has done. Yance has made a film that portrays the truth. The truth that is so ugly. I hope there will be change in the world. We are souls in physical costumes and the fact that people still judge others by the color of their skin is horrible. We all bleed the same. We all have hearts. I hope that this film will ignite a change that will help others. I feel this film stirs up an open door for others to tell their stories....

I've lost a child, albeit under less distressing circumstances than these, and I am impressed w/the way she expressed how she connected w/her husband i.e., "We both lost a child" and they held each other. Many couples break up after the loss of a child. It's the worst kind of hell.

The murder of William certainly accelerated his mothers death and I believe was a direct cause of his fathers stroke and untimely death. Truly sad and terribly unjust.

When William went to the shop to question the disrespect that was done to his mom, as he showed his anger as he told his sister, his death was retaliated from that, That was the STAY IN YOUR PLACE BLACK BOY! It is really sad that these people are intimidated by us, if this was a white man, his actions would have been understood.

William caught the guy who shot the white detective David.... Proof right there, Jenna. Would a bad guy do this heroic deed? 🕵🏻‍♀️ Case is reopened in my mind.

I am an avid watcher of documentaries and this is one of the most powerful I have ever seen. The eloquence of the story telling and the beauty...the beauty...the beauty of the love they have for each other. The determination to not give anyone a pass. Beautiful!

I'm so sorry your beautiful family suffered such a tragedy. I'm "white" Australian and ashamed to say that racism exists here too. One day I attended a preschool and it became so apparent to me, that these little people do not see skin colour. They only saw other little people, friends to hug and welcome, hold hands with, and to play with. When and why did their eyes start to see the skin colour and not the little friend they previously loved. We are all human, with good and bad in all races. Be proud of the wonderful loving family you all are💜💜💜

Her eyes you can just see the pain she’s in from the loss of her brother and the strain of all what happening and has happened........my heart goes out to the family. Always remember what ever colour we are we all bleed the same we all have feeling and you should never judge anyone cause when your pointing the finger at someone there’s 3 fingers pointing back at your self. Always show respect and compassion to fellow humans

Her mother and father were so stylish in their hay-day. This story is very sad, and goes with a list of other cases in this country. The justice system gas to change!

Thank you Barbara and Yance Ford! My condolences to you and family. Unfortunately I can relate to your story. My only son (AA) was murdered by some white men and the case was never tried!! The Prosecutor, DA, ADA and Ohio AG, have treated my son’s death like he was a piece of garbage. I recognize most of what your mother experienced in a traumatic situation such as murder!! 4 yrs later and still NO JUSTICE OR ANSWERS FOR MY LOVE LOSS. Keep doing what you’re doing. Help others tell their stories of biased and inhumane injustices. Be a voice for the VOICELESS. YOU have what it takes. Take Care Yance.

What a powerful documentary. I was hooked in the first minute. The blunt, emotionless "No" to each early phone request indicates a total lack of empathy and compassion for William's grieving family and friend. No explanation, no kindness, no mercy, no interest and no show of humanity for their loss. I found this obscene. What a strong, dignified family, and friend, denied even a modicum of respect and justice. I've been moved to my core by their experience. Thank you for this Netflix production and the family for bringing this appalling situation to light. Your strength is inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time. 💗 💖 💞 💗 You raised your children to see character, not colour, but you weren't wrong in that. The system is wrong. The prejudices are wrong. The response to the crime was wrong. You have risen above all that and, because of your courage and generosity in sharing your story, you have given the account of William's murder and the following inaction a lesson many people will remember for the rest of our lives.
