I've never done this before....
This is Test Night 2 for the OneTigris Scaena Tent.
In the Test Night 1 episode, I did my best to get the Scaena tent to leak but it didn't and now, I'm back again but this time with strong storms and extremely heavy rain.
Will it Leak Now?

OneTigris Scaena Backpacking Tent - First Look at the Cosmitto Replacement - Preview
What it is :
My friends, what i have here is the Scaena (sky-n-ah) tent from OneTigris; remember the Cosmitto tent that I reviewed previously? If not you should check out my videos on that tent as it was a very interesting product; it had a lot going for it but unfortunately the design of the tent meant that it wasn’t waterproof.
After the testing done on my channel, the company recommended that the Cosmitto be only used in light rain.
How useful is a tent that can’t weather any sort of weather? Not useful at all.
Anyways, after my testing videos and review went up for the Cosmitto tent, OneTigris told me that they were working on a new version of this tent, one that addressed all of the issues that I had and to make a long story short, here we go!
This is the Scaena tent which is essentially the new and improved Cosmitto tent. While it hasn’t replaced the Cosmitto as it is still for sale for some reason, based on what OneTigris has told me, it is the new and improved Cosmitto tent.
Agenda Free Link : www.onetigris....
Colors : Coyote Brown
Materials :
Fly : 20D silicone Ripstop nylon treated with 3000mm rating
Body: 40D silicone Ripstop nylon with 3000mm floor
Poles : 7001 Aluminum
Zippers : YKK
Weight : 5.3lbs
Dimensions :
Stored : 15.5” long x 8” wide
Setup : 6.8’ long x 4.1’ wide x 3.7” tall
Included :
Groundsheet
5 guy lines
10 tent stakes
Poles
Storage bag
Price : $250
Features :
This is a 3 season tent,
2 doors
2 vestibules
Angled poles - 120 degrees - this provides campers with a bigger, more open tent space. Also, it gives the users a better view from the inside of the tent as well as better ventilation.
Fly can be set up with the floor to make a sort of quick setup shelter when the inner tent isn’t required or needed.
Inside Flaps can be used to block wind - this can be incredibly handy in the summer months in certain situations. For an example, lets say that you are at the beach or maybe you are camping in the mountains and you have wind coming in one way, you can setup the tent with the flaps towards the wind so you can control the amount of air flow into the tent while having the benefits of mesh on the other side. It’s a really smart design
Impressions :
Quality and Construction :
Setup :
Design :
Large two person tent
It is slightly heavy for a 2 person tent but it is feature rich
Well thought out stake out points - points on the sides for additional airflow
Cosmitto Tent :
Going back to the Cosmitto tent for a moment, OneTigris really does deserve a round of applause for the way that they handled all of the issues concerning that tent. As a summary, they released the Cosmitto tent, through testing problems were revealed and the company owned up to the issues and made some changes on their web site and also issued a warning - the tent is designed only for good conditions with nothing more than light rain. While they didn’t pull the tent from the market they did make those changes which can be seen on their site to this day.
From Here :
This is a preview of the Scaena tent and from here it is going into testing - rain testing is coming up with a Test Night Video and in also, I will have a video dedicated to the setup process of this tent which will show you how to do both setups that this tent is capable of.
I will be filming adventures with this tent and ultimately my review will go up.

Seems like a good tent, yet I like more of a cover over the doorway on any tent. Getting in and out in the rain should still be problematic for getting water in your tent. JMHO

The answer to that might be to use a tarp/fly over that area. However, I will admit that would sort of negates the concept of "throw this up quick to get out of the elements". I. too, would like a little bit more of a fly/vestibule arrangement, if for no other reason than a place to park your wet/muddy boots someplace than inside the tent itself.

Yep agree and for all this storm testing how about when it's wind driven...and how is it for condensation breathability? That real world weather testing?
@jariperho
@jariperho 2 года назад
Even vestibules allow some venting, but the Scaena's side door is either all or nothing. I suspect condensation and lack of airflow will be bigger problems than waterproofness.

I'm not surprised it held up well. I have a 6-man Coleman Flatwoods dome with a very similar front-face design, just bigger, & it laughs at sheets of rain; as far as the "internal fly"-behind-the-windows -thing goes, it's the same, & I've never had an issue.

OneTigris says the tent is not recommended for extreme weather conditions, but from the looks of it moderate to heavy rain doesn't seem to affect it, unfortunately we don't know about heavy wind gusts. I imagine it will get through most weather without an issue.

I usually grab a Ozark Trail Walmart special 3 man tent for $27, than buy a $10 roll of frost king clear plastic and cover the tent with that because the tent alone will leak a little at the seams,I'll spray scotch guard on the seams, cover it and I left it up for 3 years without any leakage at all for $ less than $40. And that's in Connecticut with lots of snow storms, hail, rain, the clear plastic did eventually leak a little from bird talons from birds landing on it.but it beats the hell out of spending $300-$500 bucks any day.

A new tent is like a new coat --- nice tight seams, windproof, won't leak. BUT: what about when it has been put up and down 5 - 6, a dozen times. Will it still be leakproof. Luke, I know you have some 'favorite' tents that you use a lot. SO, until I see this being used a little and still not leaking will I be convinced. Those seams pull lose, those threads start to unravel a little --- will it still be dry inside? The world is depending on you!

Cool that it didn't leak, but I'm still not a fan of the door being so exposed to the elements. I'd rather see an extended rain fly that offers additional protection. Unzipping the door creates direct exposure to elements whereas an extended rain fly could direct the elements away.

I thought for sure that it would leak, and I'm surprised that it didn't. I do however wish tent makers would design their fly so it will cover the windows and yet you can still unzip from the inside in order to let cross ventilation through. Here in the south it can get brutal closed up in a tent during a summer rain storm without the cross ventilation.

@@jasondunbar3667 Here at the westcoast of the north sea in the Netherlands we had 3 storms in 1 week in februari. One was 11 Beaufort with gusts upto 12 what we call hurricane force. In the south of England not so far away, maybe 70 miles/100km a gusts was measured of 197 mph. And we had a ton of damage to buildings, roofs ripped off and semi's and trees blows over. They shut down all public transport for over a day, even trains. Of course with a thunderstorm like in the video, stuff can get ugly very fast with high winds but this one was mostly heavy rain. And the tent didn't leak. But I wonder how it would do with strong winds and rain.
