As a welder of 15 years, I'd say this is a solid process. I'd run second cap pass, or two stringer beads, as that right side looks like undercut. Then flip it over to get a full pen on the back side.

Remember when phone camera's would crap out if you recorded videos like these. Technology

There is no need to make a bigger gap, you already have a groove because the rebar is round.

You might need a special filter for your camera because recording bright lights regularly could damage it over time

The lesson I take from this video is that no matter what type of weld you do, there will always be a welder who tells you that you're a fucking idiot for doing it.

As a welder with 7931 and a half years, i can tell you this is absolutely the wrong way to weld two pieces of ductile iron together with an aluminum tig welder. That rod should have been a tungstin oxide inner flux core wire feed rod and the parts should have been prewelded in china first. Amateurs smh

Not allowed for concrete rebar... Changes the metal properties! Tensile, elasticity, etc. fine for fencing or farm work or hayseed mechanics. Can't use a torch to tut it either.

Я не сварщик, а слесарь. И скажу что сварка арматуры не предусматривает тепловой звзор (чем является то что он сделал якобы правильно). Этот зазор предусмотрен для сваривания труб где будет проходить газ под большим давлением или жидкость так же под давлением. Такие зазоры не дают трубе отклонится (сварщики знают что шов уводит металл на себя).

Quality welders are rigorously trained and tested on their skills. None of that matters though for a home welder. This joint would work just fine at home. That being said. This is why welders in the comments are so critical of poor quality weld/welders. The standards they have been trained on live in their minds. This weld started off ok. A gap may not have been necessary. Where it took a turn was when they decided to weave the cap pass. Which caused inclusions in the legs.

Там и без зазора можно проварить метал хорошо потому что как бы фаска снята засчет окружности арматуры😂

Зачем делать зазор при сварке арматуры или прутка, ну не будет такой нагрузки чтоб порвало сварочный шов, а если и будет нагрузка, то арматуру порвёт поперёк возле шва, а почему возле шва - да потому что арматурная сталь и так с мелкой кристаллической решеткой, так ещё будет и перекал металла в области сварки. Арматуру достаточно связать проволокой при некоторых условиях...
