Jerry Cole youre strongest at the top of the motion the hardest part is getting it off your chest. locking your arms increases the range of motion but it also gives you a rest at the end of the press. if you dont lock you keep the tension on the muscle and off the joint which makes for a more intense set. these guys have all likely been lifting like this since high school.

If you look at world strongest man contests, there are quite many winners and elite challengers in their mid or even late 30s. Strength is the last motoric trait one loses with age. So i think he rather had an advantage here because of his age.
@BlackWhiteBeast
@BlackWhiteBeast Год назад
@@maciejguzek3442 Those men competing at the world strongest men contests are also on a lot of steroids as well. All of those WSM competitors are juiced up so it's not a good comparison. A juiced up Larry Allen at this age in this video would be insanely stronger than this. This man has insanely great genetics along with insane athletic abilities just like the men competing in those world strongest men competitions, but without the steroids.
@maciejguzek3442
@maciejguzek3442 Год назад
@@BlackWhiteBeast strongmen don't actually give a damn about bench press, some absolute world elite strongmen asked how much they bp said 'i don't even know/ i don't care'. I'm not arguing here about Larry's potential. I get that in NFL there is much more money and therefore genetic freaks choose pro leagues and not strongman.
@BlackWhiteBeast
@BlackWhiteBeast Год назад
@@maciejguzek3442 At the end of the day we both gave a damn about this bench press video, and with Larry Allen's performance in this video he displayed a fraction of what he's able to do. The man was an absolute unit on the football field as a run blocker and pass blocker. I do watch WSM as well and they are absolute units in their venue. Its extremely impressive to see large men perform with tremendous athletic abilities. Have a good day.

Here's my solution for all of the locked elbows arguments.... Have them bench an empty barbell and hold it up and mark its height of when the person's elbows are fully and properly locked out... and that's the height they gotta reach for all the 225 reps to ensure the legitimacy of each rep

jim efwards For hardcore lifters 50 reps isn’t that big of a deal. I bet Harrison could hit the 50 mark. Larry Allen is just naturally a beast but Harrison with his powerlifting background and form on bench could knock out 50 easy.
@chrisgregory265
@chrisgregory265 5 лет назад
@Titus Faust Ok well if he has been powerlifting for a while in this video 43 reps for a guy his size isnt impressive at all. :(

@Titus Faust I mean Larry Wheels can do a lot more than 50 though.

Based on this video, to his 705lbs bench, to his epic run to prevent a pick six, as well as the words of just about everyone he played both with and against... Larry Allen was just on an entirely different level than everyone else. The man is the literal definition of the word freak

Fred Smerlas did 56 reps with 225 at Boston College pro day. Smerlas also did 405, that is405 lbs. for almost 2,reps with an overhead press. He was a 5x pro bowl NT for the Buffalo Bills in the 1980s. A natural amazing athlete. Arthur Karelas
