Oof. Ref had a rough game. She seemed to blow her whistle, then be unsure what she was even calling. She definitely changed her mind on giving #20 (who was playing pretty dirty all game) a second yellow only because she realized that would send her off for good. Anyway, two quality teams here, fun to watch!
Always love your videos. Thanks for displaying great Ohio kids playing in these competitive games. I watch every one, regardless of the teams involved. You are appreciated!
Not even from Ohio, but that ref was biased. As a collegiate soccer athlete, that ref made calls to give red a way to get back in the game, there's not doubt about that.
Ehhhhhh...not sure about that one. White was lucky she decided NOT to give out a second yellow to #20 (who was playing EXTREMELY aggressive throughout the game) when she figured out that would have been a sending off...she chickened out.
How so? While the ball hit her leg before it hit her arm...a few overriding factors were in play. One - her arm was out and way from her body. Two - it hit the illegal part of her arm. Three - she gained a significant advantage (handling of the ball). Clear handball and correctly awarded penalty kick. Surprised it took the refs that long to talk about one of the easiest calls all game.
I think it was all of her arm and jersey pulling #20 was doing. It was harder from our angle to see, but where the ref is it was probably pretty obvious. She gained a significant defensive advantage then went through the body on the slide tackle to get the ball while pulling down on the player (she did that earlier in the game inside the box with no call because the ref was about 45 yards away from the play). #20 was extremely lucky to not be sent off there...
