I appreciate that you want us to hear you 'ring the bell ' but seems a rather violent stropping ?

I suppose...as long as that spine keeps flush and you never once put more pressure to the spine side than to the edge side, it should be OK with a high variable of the pressure. Of course, if you work fast like this and too brusque, that means if you ever once had the spine come off that strop you'd be imparting a whole lot of unwanted pressure to the delicate cutting edge. But it isn't something I do much for thinking anymore, stropping's for me pure rote at this point, mindful as I may be I'm never going to overcome my middling motor skills for this particular task, and this is the one to me (among stropping/honing/shaving) where great pure motor skills separates you from the pack more than any other factor.

@@thesuperiorshave , yes true never let the spine come of the strop , I actually love stropping, it's a nice skill , but I've been dextrose with my hands all my life , self taught guitar and tool making helps 😉

Can u do the twist of the tang in your fingertips like rotating a #2 pencil 'round, the knuckles/wrist position vs the razor/strop never changing from one path of the lap to the other? That was once taut in barbering schools for both honing and stropping long ago and I would presume because it allows such a minimum of pressure. Back when I tried it I was in high exposure to extremely dangerous falling sharp objects :-)

@@thesuperiorshave , yeah no problem twisting tang and x strokes on a narrow strop .

@@thesuperiorshave ( I cut my first cheap strop a couple of minor nicks in the first month or so , then I mastered it and bought a Kanayama 70,000 strop , which I adore .
