been out of the loop for a while guys. I'm just a normal human with normal human behaviors, but to say the least, we are back!!! In todays video we are welding some 5/8" carbon steel plate with a v groove in it. We are going to get a root in there with some 6010+++ and hot fill and cap with some 7018. Hopefully you guys enjoy our video. Please dont forget to like share and sub to our channel if and only if you find this useful and or entertaining. Feedback is always welcomed. Thank you guys for viewing. Peace!!

Can you give some pointer on when you get to the end (top) of the plate? When I get there the bead becomes violent and I can't seem to continue the pace I had kept from the bottom up. My welds look good up until the last inch or so lol. Sorry if I didn't explain clearly

You did explain your self well brother and actually I know exactly what you are talking about. If you are using backing plate, use one longer height wise so your heat doesn’t stop on the plate but rather on the backing plate. Always remember heat travels up, therefore the top of plate will be the hottest. By making the backing plate longer, it will disperse the heat away from your plate! Hope this helps

@@VantageWelding I dont use a backing yet. Its just practice on a L shaped, 3/8" thick , 7 inch piece of metal. I'm using 3/16" 7018 electrodes. I'm running DCEP at 108 amps.

@@ranchroberts5976 3/16 rod is too big and too low of amperage for 7018 brother.

@@VantageWelding Hey dude, just an update. So I found a solution to my problem. To anyone having this same problem, I guarantee this will work to finish your weld straight without any extra buildup at the top. So depending on how much rod I have left, I switch to a new one for the final 2 inches or so. I then use the "old rod" to begin my next weld and used the "new rod" to tie in and finish that one. Point is, use a new or still pretty long rod when finishing the weld on the 3G position.
