This next Google Find object is a Countryside one. This will bring me out to an area that at first seemed pretty easy to reach, but I definitely underestimated the location.
What I found on the map appears to be a building which could be a barn, a farmhouse or something completely different. Is it even still there and if so, what's left of it today? Come along for my latest Google Finds adventure.

After watching this back, it looks like the floor in the living room was chewed away (maybe termites)? Sadly I think this place is too costly to save, but the property is gorgeous.

That floor was chewed up, but it was by something much bigger than a termite! Another good exploration video even though we didn't get to see much of the house.

@@craigharper3877 Yeah, there is nothing a carpenter couldn't mend, the tricky part would be to transport the construction material if the area is as difficult of access as JP is saying. It can still be redevelopped as a farm domain. Just get some goats or sheep as nature's lawnmowers and you can start plowing the land for more crops after awhile.
@offshack
@offshack Месяц назад
Porcupines ate that - look at 9:45 at the floor. That's the tell-tale look of wood that fed a family of porcupines for sure. They likely ate and ate until the floor fell in, then left. Might be why the door was tied shut - trying to keep them from getting in the main part of the house.

I can just imagine this house being a very busy place, back in it's day, a bunch of kids running around playing, several adults working the fields and the kitchen doing the laundry and hanging it all out on the line to dry. And now it's empty, sad and lonely, falling apart cuz there is no longer anyone around to take care of it and give it the love and attention it needs.

I have to confess, I had tears in my eyes when you read what was on the house. It made me think about my childhood home and my grandparents home that I can’t go to anymore because they have all pasted. Memories are very powerful. Very beautiful spot that apparently had many happy memories 🤗

This is my new favorite video. It's freshing to see a house being solely reclaimed by nature, zero graffiti or vandalism. This is the first I've seen like this since I was a kid late 1970s/early 80s, when that's what happened to old places not kept up, before the modern human destructive factor. I was hopeful when I saw the metal roof that the inside was intact. Great video and beautiful nature. I'd love to land like that.

Gorgeous property all around this old farmhouse. I'm a little surprised it's not posted, considering how the road to it is somewhat maintained. Glad you didn't attempt to walk in further, given the collapsed floors and caved-in portions of the home. It would have been quite risky with you there all alone. It does look like the family or current owners have used it as a hunting spot, but even they must have realized the risk of continuing to use it with everything crumbling all around and underneath. I'm always impressed with your thoughtfulness in leaving it just the way you found it, carefully latching the door behind you and being sure not to disturb anything. Excellent video, Jay! Your Google earth sleuthing pays off!💙

Get the extension poles, that were used at the creek locations, and take them inside houses such as this one. They may be just long enough to go down into the collapsed floor to see into the basement area. A long enough extension pole would get up to the second floor windows on the outside. (Probably not at the collapsed porch side of the house.) Saw a video where they flew their drone up to the second floor windows.

He was breaking the law the second he entered this property without legal cause. The proper way would to be looking up the property owner on the GIS with the land assessor's office, contacting the registered owner, and then getting their permission to explore the property. Now that he broadcast the location of this property to the world, it will be ransacked by ignorant kids soon. The land is worth more than the house so that is why the house is left to rot.

Cool but sort of sad find. I'd say the place is sort of being looked after, going by the road which the grass has been cut before and there's no trees growing on the road itself and also by the driveway being cut. There's tire tracks out to the field and going by the field being pretty clear it may be used for cutting hay off of. Definitely had animals and that's probably why there is a pond and a lot of the land looked like grazing land. Who knows, there may be remnants of a barn or other buildings there. The water pump in the kitchen may still work. They often have to be primed and pumped quite a bit to work. Copperheads love old houses and buildings. Great hiding spots and sources of food.

I found something WEIRD on Google Maps near (relatively speaking) Globe in southeastern Arizona. Unfortunately I no longer have the coordinates. But nothing about the area made sense. Down an unmarked side road off a highway, fairly well hidden, with everything else concealed by a trees, you had several unfinished impassable roads in what looked like a street grid, with one road open going all the way to the back and some open areas. In those areas you had what looked like a home and a shed, a boat, and tons of old cars, trailers, and other crap just all over the property. I didn't see any solar panels or anything that could be providing electricity. I did see a bulldozer move in a map update so someone was definitely there. None of what I saw made any sense. It was out in the middle of nowhere. There was no reason anyone would want to live there. There's no electricity, no running water, nothing. No streams or resources. Streets carved like a residential block? What on earth? And the junk everywhere? And it didn't even have an address that showed up. Maybe criminal enterprise? Who knows.

Old abandoned movie set? Or more likely government made. Maybe a gun/bombing range. A "test neighborhood" to study the effects of a nuclear bomb explosion. There's LOT'S of neat things in the desert. Giant triangles or circles carved into the ground. Abandonded military vehicles, airplane wreckage, tiny military installations that have no names, outdoor art exhibits.

I've found several abandoned farmhouse's just by using Google maps, that are still time capsule's.

That floor almost looked like it had been destroyed by animals or termites. Saw what appeared to be gnaw marks on much of the edges.

Yes, I was thinking termites as I watched the footage back.

Some interesting contradictions in that place. There is no visible evidence that power or phone was ever run up that road, or that the house was ever wired, yet there are a number of televisions! There is a hand water pump you were trying, but the bathroom is plumbed for running water. There appear to be no outbuildings or barns, but there looks to be a horse collar on the floor of the caved in room. My guess? There were originally outbuildings, probably one contained a generator to run the TV (those insulators could have been for the wires), but they have fallen in and vanished into the undergrowth.

In heavily wooded areas utilities are often run underground to avoid so much damage and maintenance from falling trees and branches.

@@kypparmstrong2775 I doubt in that time and location that would have been the case.

What is really bizarre is that if you look closely at the bathroom sink, there is no fresh water piping to it, only waste piping. Speculation: ol' Grandpa was washing up, flushing the toilet, and taking a bath using buckets of water from the cistern pump in the kitchen, maybe warmed on the coal cookstove so's ya didn't freeze the Family Jewels during yer pre-Christmas-party bath. It was a way back in the day to have the illusion of 'Genuine Indoor Plumbing That Everyone Else Has' by using newer salvaged fixtures and just running a sewer line out to a cesspool, but living by the bucket for fresh water as before, minus trips to the bun-chilling (or spider-infested) outhouse. With no interior fresh-water plumbing, you didn't have to have expensive central heat or at least constant heat to keep pipes from freezing if you had to be away for a while during winter, only remember to plunge as much water as you could out of the toilet bowl and sink traps so that those didn't freeze. (I saw this as a kid in a few po' folks' houses in the Lowcountry of S.C., but in one case they just ran the waste to a drainage ditch in the back yard that sluggishly flowed into a swamp next door. Yes, indeed, you could stand on the bank and watch patties surface and slowly float away whenever someone flushed. 🤢) Also, to be fair, here there could have been a 'normal' electric deep-well pump and pressure tank at some time in the past that failed, or a long-gone windmill pump and elevated tank to provide just enough head of water to be able to use fixtures, and somebody swiped the copper from under the sink. As for electricity, everyone wanted it but you either had to make it yourself (I have a book from 1915, _Electricity for the Farm_, that shows a few ways to do it, and the knob insulators in the pile outside suggest that they did here somehow pretty early on) or wait for the WPA Rural Electrification Project in the 1930s to get it to you.

@@brianc.9238 Most places here in Upstate NY when I was very young had running (cold) water piped in from a spring, or else a hand-dug well with a pump. Some still had outhouses, but others had indoor plumbing that fed into a cesspool, or more often ran out on the ground downhill from the house, or into the nearest brook! Septic systems began to go in in the late 1950's, early '60's. When we swam in the local brook on hot days, an occasional "log" would float by! But towns were no different, the raw sewage poured out into the river and downstream to the next town's water intake! A little antifreeze in the toilets and trap would keep them from freezing, a real problem in houses before central heat. (also unaffordable in the Great Depression, when people substituted kerosene in their car radiators). Usually the bathroom was next to the kitchen, both to save on plumbing costs and because the kitchen stoves were always going and the kitchen stayed above freezing. The kitchen was often the only warm room in the house, where everyone ate except on formal occasions, and the center of family life.
