Me I go to work very early in the morning but I finish work an hours before NY opening so when I am at home that's the only session I trade so once I open my laptop I have just 2hrs if no clear trade I dose till the next day but I pray one day I become a full time trader, alhamdulillah 🙌🙌🙌

I've been learning how to trade and I'm now in my third year. I spend ALL DAY in front of the charts, studying and learning. Sure, when I'm fully comfortable with my trading knowledge, I'll drastically reduce that to an hour or two, but in the meantime, I have to put in the hours to understand. I'm a perfectionist and need to know everything about trading in order to push forward and that takes a hellofalot of time.

I actually like being on the charts … sometimes I see things that I didn’t see before… I like to call it studying lol I actually sleep with my laptop and charts open .. that’s why im the legend 🤣

I would just like to respectfully counter what you said. For new traders who want to figure this out in LESS time, you have to fail more at an advanced rate, you NEED ALL the chart time you can get. Albeit you will lose more money, you will overtrade more, you will revenge trade more but you will learn more and therefore faster. If you’re able to spend the entire NY session in front of the charts do it. Screen time is very necessary for a new trader. There’s movements and flow that a more advanced trader came to understand only through screen time. Now if you want this journey to take you 6+ years then by all means limit yourself. And of course I’m not speaking to the ones itching to say not everyone has the luxury to spend all day on the charts everyday. I’m obviously not speaking to you. Taking care of your responsibilities always comes first. At the end of the day your outlook on life is what truly makes you a successful trader. Only the real ones will understand that.

Intraday, I know what I’m looking for. if oil does what it does every day in 10 minutes then I don’t need any more chart time. Lately /CL has been funky though not doing the deal for a couple hours.

Check the charts at 8am look for a move. If nothing, wait until the market opens. Have a daily set profit goal if you get into a trade. Once you hit your goal, let it run, but close the position once you think the trend is changing. I've hit my goal In 20 minutes and lost 60% of it throughout the day trying to make more.
