Strudel with poppy seeds and cherry
1 sheet of puff pastry
150 g of poppy seeds
150 ml of water
150 ml of milk
2 tablespoons of sugar
500 g of frozen cherries
70 g of sugar
1 tbsp corn starch
10 g of lemon juice
30 g of water
1. Pour water and milk over the poppy seeds, bring to a boil and boil over low heat for 3 minutes.
2. Turn it off and let it rest for 15 minutes, it should double in size.
3. Drain all excess liquid, add sugar and beat the mass with a blender. If desired, you can add raisins, lemon or orange peel, vanilla.
If you do not want to make poppy filling, you can buy ready-made.
4. Mix cherries, sugar, cornstarch, water and lemon juice in a saucepan.
5. Bring to a boil and cook until thickened.
6. Allow to cool and drain excess liquid.
7. Roll out the dough on a towel into a thin rectangular layer, lay out the poppy seed filling and flatten it, then lay out the cherries and distribute them.
8. Wrap the roll with a towel, brush the edge with an egg so that it sticks together better.
9. Brush the roll with an egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds and bake at 200°C for 20 minutes until golden brown.
10. Serve with ice cream.
