Dude, i am trying to get better at this. Cause if you know where they are you can position yourself better and know when to cut the ball. I have flakes camera settings but still cant seem to position myself like him.
this is my exact rank... I've been climbing solo queues trying to implement the flakes mentality and I've seen some great progress. This game really is like chess if you let it be, but oh boy knocking that ball chasey speed flashy flips mentality out of my head is alot of work
same, but in doing so I once decided to go for a flashy double tap and clipped on my first attempt. I realized that being able to hit a ceiling shot musty double tap is what really makes me want to play the game. It kinda makes you realize that enjoyment of the game should be factored into how you play as well, If I really stuck to this mentality 100% I cant help but think i'd get bored quick
Watched this video, got on to play ranked for the first time seriously this season and got GC along with the 10 wins for the rewards lol. Anyone saying this strategy doesn’t work or is too difficult is trolling or just thinks they’re better than they actually are. This method is exactly how to rank up. Edit: For context I’ve been hardstuck champ for 3 seasons up until this point and was hardstuck c3 for the majority of that time, playing smarter instead of faster instantly gave me the confidence and space needed to propel into GC and actually get stuck there instead of playing the win loss game over and over like a scrub.
I mean ya it might work but if anyone is going to do it I will just know how your going to play ? And what your going to do I did try this but na I can’t play like it hate it not anyone can just do it it takes thousands of hours to game sense like he does
The more you learn what he is teaching you... the more you understand what, when and why he's doing it. Never realized how important the basic fundamentals are in this game until I started putting them to use
been watching this series for a while, finally hit gc2 in 2s and gc1 in 1s. I finally feel a sort of understanding to what im doing and what my opponents are going to do. never had more fun with ranked in my life, even while im losing, because now i know why
Just found your channel from a Thanovic recommendation in one of his videos. I've been binge watching this series all morning. I've been stuck at Diamond forever. I'm fairly new to playing 2's and mostly play 3's, so this series has been a HUGE help in me realizing my biggest flaws is overcommitting (especially fatal in 2's), flipping when completely unnecessary, and just lacking patience. Some of the most helpful content was in the very beginning of the series. LET YOUR TEAMMATE DO THE THING. If they bump you, if they steal the ball, if they pass it to the other team in front of the goal, so be it, just be ready. Your in-game sense and reads are phenomenal. I think I struggle a lot with hesitating to make a decision which ends up with me over committing on a play I shouldn't have even tried for and getting easily beaten. Seriously though, you have an excellent coaching style, and the fact you have this content up for everyone to benefit from is huge poggers123. Can't wait to get through this series, watch your 1's series , and the rest of your videos. Thanks again, and hope all is well for you!
this is really useful. People at this rank can definitely pull off fancier mechanics, but not consistently, so this focus on consistent mechanics is really informative
Flakes, there is a difference between JSTN mechanics and what you have. People can't do what you do; you have excellent fundamentals that make these cuts and transitions look easy. You can't get to champ 2 with just IQ alone.
@Flakes I thought playing like this would be so easy, I can't believe how hard it is for me to play this way, I'm still trying tho. Thanks for the content and advice!
Watching these vids is pure joy. The "oh i cant score that, its too hard to jump" immitation is so funny xD. Im d3-c2 without even airroll useage or crazy air things. I dont have the time to get the timings on perfect, and sometime i have 2-3 weeks without playing, so i beginn everytime from new *g*. But i cant imagine being this good and hold all that skill back, like you doing it. That must hurt so bad when you know u can easy score goals with just a normal spin or bounce shoot and just think, oh no then someone write "thats too hard". Great work as always, you deserve way more subs, that vids are pure gold :-)
i literally watched 6 of ur series vids, hopped on with my friend. we're hardstuck champ1. lost like 2 games and won the rest. went from c1 div 1 to c2 div 1 in one day
its amazing how your c3 team mate looked like a plat that entire 4th game. He just didn't know how to mesh with a better play style. He only knows how to rush.
I mean I wouldn’t be mad at someone for going to the Louvre just to look at the picture frames, but I might try to tell them some sort of analogy to see if their response reveals wether they’re trolling or just missing the art🤷🏽♂️
Yeah I recently just hit champ 2. I keep teetering from champ 1 div 4 to champ 2 div 1. I have 0 mechanics I believe and made it this for. I just need to put In the work I can see my potential,I’m just not motivated lol
Awesome man. I keep trying these methods but still can’t rank up lol. I just don’t have a sense of spacing and “when can the opponent go”. I always get the ball stolen from me lol. Still shitty diamond 3
I love this series, as someone who naturally plays more off of game sense and reading the opponent than doing crazy mechanics. But it's pretty frustrating how much he babies mechanics. As a champ it's so annoying to see him avoid a simple mechanic that I, someone who doesnt practice mechanics much could pull off since plat. If people are complaining they can't go in the air or off the wall or go for high challenges in champ they were carried there sorry not sorry
Literally the point of the series to play with as little mechanics as possible though… The fact that you might think something is easy to do doesn’t mean everyone will think the same, if I hit something you might think is easy, I’d also get comments saying that it was too hard. Thats why I’d rather just keep it as simple as possible, hope that explains a little.
@@FlakesRL that's fair, I understand and appreciate the reply. Just felt like I was at the lower end mechanics wise for my rank and most of the time you point a move out you avoided doing because it's too mechanical it seems somewhat trivial, but thinking about it more I get why. Still enjoy and learn a lot from these videos though so thank you!
Powerslide cuts/ fake direction changes seem so easy. I’m trying to practice it more since it looks like the easiest way to outplay especially in lower ranks. Right now it’s hard for me because my boost management is just shit lol. Went from d3 to c2 cause of these vids. My goal is to be gc in a year
I think the core thing to take away from Flakes videos is that yeah it’s boring to play this way but that’s not what he wants you to do. He just wants you incorporate these ideas into your gameplay to compliment your other skills.
Difficult to tone down his defense, even if he isn't being mechanical about it. He's just in the right place in the right time almost all the time because he's a top SSL in skill.
@@mitchpierce6572 Nah...he's amazing at goal line saves. You can put a plat in his same position and they won't save it. Even for a pro he's great at it.
@@PantsofVance yea but that's not plat lol he gradually does more at higher ranks I'm also c3 and saves like that are common but I've started doing some of the stuff he does and these lobbies feel so much easier
I'm no flakes but I am a coach. I personally use a 20 minute routine and recommend it to my clients / friends as well. 5 mins freeplay. 1 shooting pack that's definitely hard. Do each shot a couple times. Back into freeplay to work air stuff.
Yo Flakes do you have any suggestions for practicing defense? I know that I should drive back to goal line and safe the ball. That works very often great but can you show how to defend in rocket league like shadowing? I am not very mechanical but I am GC1 currently. Every time I play, I recognize that my defense is trash 🗑. So how can I work for it? I have a feeling that I panic to often. Thank you for your great videos I just learn so much from it!
For that panic thingy, what worked for me and a couple friends are 2 things + a bonus: 1) watch your replays, identify the defensive plays during which you panicked / were uncomfortable af then recreate them in a training pack alongside some variations of each then run that training pack before playing and sometimes in between games, you'll soon be comfortable with the way you have to take off/angle yourself/hit it to safety etc in those specific situations 2) get in a private lobby with friend(s) and only focus on your defense, pretty much just play goaly, get some counter attacks going but once you're on attack just slow it down, and let them get possesion again then work on your shadowing, speed matching, reverse drive/single jump challenges while shadowing etc Bonus: just grind 1s even if you hate them, #1 way to get use to those pressuring situations. GL homie
I think it’s crazy that people at champ 2 think the powerslide cut to a hit is “too hard”. I score that shot in diamond all the time and there are people often doing more complicated stuff consistently…
I don't understand how the C2, C3's in this video are so bad aswell, while the ones I play are much better for some reason, its like C3 then and C3 now are different
I swear my C2-C3 games don’t look like this. There aren’t people just going up the wall and flopping on the air dribble attempt. People have gotten better since this video for sure, plus the rank shift from this season. But his tips still work the same. The future videos when he’s in GC1 would probably be more accurate now to this season’s C2.
i am french who doesn t speak english and i see all this Flake video, i love it this whithout mechanics, really really amazing for smart playing and learn a lot of but i am really sad to no understand what he says :/ :/ :/ :/ :/ i think it must be really have good thing for learn too
it's rlly funny how people say they know that if anyone plays like this they will just counter it like there isn't multiple ways to counter anything they do
