Bowdrill set made off of the landscape! Are you able to troubleshoot the issues when your bowdrill set doesn’t work? Here we made a few quick corrections to get the ember! Here are some bowdrill lessons’s learned:
• in this case the spindle was loose, so I tightened the bowstring.
• I needed my notch to extend a bit deeper into the burned in divot. Remember rule of 1/3. Notch width 1/3 of burned in divot of the spindle. Notch will extend 1/3 into the middle of the burned in divot.
•Make initial divot close enough to the edge of of hearth board (but not too close!)
• remember: Proper prior PREPARATION prevents poor performance!
