They're new bassist is from the 80s band, Firehouse. Check out something from their newest album; it was put out, this year. I've seen them in concert, a few times, in small venues, back in 2009. Whether you're a Christian or not, they're definitely worth going to see.

Great band and great reaction Jayy. I saw these guys live way back in 1987 in Auckland New Zealand and they were awesome. They were known to throw bibles out into the audience during the concert. And for your info their name Stryper is taken from Isaiah 53:5 "and by His stripes we are healed". I recommend their song "to hell with the devil"

Discovered Stryper when I was a Sophomore in high school over 40 years ago. I still jam to their music.

One of my best friends I went to highschool got me listening to Stryper and ever since I'm a big fan of theirs, I've seen them 2 times in concert and they were great.

The band is still playing today in 2020!

Michael Sweet is STILL a great rock singer at 59 years old....but his vocals in the 1984-1990 range are arguably the greatest of all time in this genre (or any rock genre really)

We were airlifted off the Aircraft Carrier we were on detachment with to get pilots qualified for landing on a carrier because someone in authority in another country got stupid. Those helo pilots wanted to make our trip memorable by swerving back and forth, over and under and switching lead. A few people got airsickness. I was in my glory, yelling “hell, yeah, show us what you got!” A couple of my squadron mates vowed to never ride in another helicopter with them again. I loved it. Still one of my best Navy memories to this day 35 years later.

That is EXACT what you hear live and Mike's voice is just as strong as ever....(maybe even more if you can believe that....THANK YOU AGAIN and GOD BLESS YOU!! NOW...some background for this AMAZING video and my favorite video by them. Actually, aside from KISS this is my favorite video of all time. Also, there is a very rare hard to find (bootleg) video for the making of this video and I am one of the very fortunate ones to have it (NO I am not uploading because I got it from the band). The video was done in May, released in May and the album IN GOD WE TRUST was released on June 28, 1988. It was pushed back BECAUSE of the FBI....yes the FBI. The government did not like the idea of the dollarbill on the cover and they made them change the green on the bill to grey. The album propelled them, a CHRISTIAN METAL BAND, to p= HEADLINE 18,000 seat arena's , a true accomplishment for a Christian metal band. There were 2 bands that opened for them White Lion and HUrricane. NOW I WILL NOT GET INTO IT...but STRYPER helped out White Lion A LOT HOWEVER the drummer Greg D'Angelo hated God and the nicest guys in the world (STRYPER) and he spread lies about them that a magazine (even though the magazine knew the stories were false) they ran the stories anyway. To say that they were broken hearted after all the help they gave to White Lion was an understatement. In fact that HORRIBLE preacher Joel Oystein picked up on those lies about 5 years ago and I got involved and threatened a lawsuit on behalf of Stryper, Also people MUST remember or if they never knew...most of the problems they had were from the Churches and TV preachers. They were angry the kids were listening and coming to Jesus through Stryper and not them....In fact STRYPER were more accepted by bands like TESTAMENT, MOTLEY CRUE, POISON to name a few . In fact, Poison opened for Stryper @ the Country Club (bad name LOL for a rock club in Cali) well during the open set Bret Michaels fell off stage and broke a rib...Stryper said a prayer for him during their set. In God We Trust went Gold but did not sell as much as the Platinum (now double platinum) To Hell with The Devil and since the landscape of music was changing Stryper were forced by the record company (ENIGMA) to make changes. That being said this is a Great album, very commercial and not as heavy as their other stuff in the 80's however the last song on this album was the heaviest tune they did at that time (The Reign). I saw them on Nov 29, 1988 one of the GREATEST NIGHTS OF MY LIFE. However little did I know that fast forward that same night the next year 1989m I was beside my Mommy on her death bed from cancer...she passed away the next day Nov 30, 89. My Mom LOVED Stryper. How is that for full circle? Stryper helped me alot through my Mom's death.

One of the biggest Stryper fans you will ever find (me). I am 50 and anti-religion. I grew up with Stryper, not having any idea they were so religious. Weird I know. This reaction made me cry. Michael Sweet was so damn good.

I jumped out of helicopters in the military, flew in them when I worked in the oilfield...I love helos they're awesome. Rather them than airplanes. Feeling the vibration and the shake is a good thing, lets you know it's working. It's when the shaking stops that you have to be worried :)

In concerts they have sometimes been throwing bibles to the audience. Being a Christian rock band their name is an acronym beginning with "Salvation Through..." I don't remember the rest. Fun fact: in my native language swedish stryper means strangling.

There are or were only 4 christian metal bands in the 80's. Stryper was and is #1. They still going strong. That song was off of the "in God we trust" album(great album too). They have some newer jams out now. You need to listen to the song, "yahweh" that's a song that will stay in your head . I noticed you felt the song in your soul (got that teary eyes a bit huh) they have that affect with some of their songs. I been on a helicopter before( black hawk) while I was in Afghanistan in the marine corps. It wasn't for any mission. It was voluntary. It was pretty awsome and scary at the same time as anything bad could have happened on those moments. Thank God we were safe from the enemy. I found Stryper in 1986, in 8th grade. I felt the same way. His voice is God's magic. He's also very kind, blessed.. and loves his fans, all. I am 48 now, still listen to them for a pick me up. I love my Contemp Christian, Gospel, WORSHIP BUT Stryper is like soft rock happy God music.

They spent a ton of time on this video- weeks to set up the arena, Robert (drummer) brought his 110 piece drum kit which took 3 trucks by itself, it was their biggest undertaking at that point.
