I figured I’d deal with this before it blows up. 1 - The guys aren’t in the video. Why? Because we couldn’t make that happen. Not enough time and not enough money. It was easy for me to go to a studio and get some footage of me at least singing parts and playing the solo (which I played in the album). 2 - AI. Yes we used it for this video. I’m not a huge fan of AI and I’ve expressed concerns in recent interviews. I think as long as it’s mixed with human interaction then it can be useful and really work. We tried to make that happen with this video. We didn’t want to use real actors as that is next to impossible to pull off with a tight budget. You can get cheesy very quickly. We didn’t even want to go there. 3 - It’s a dark ballad. About being betrayed by love. Jesus was betrayed by love. We’ve all been betrayed by love. I thought it was fitting to write a song about that. 4 - I really hope you all can enjoy the song/video. We work our butts off to bring you the best. Our best. We’re just grateful we’re still releasing new music and some of you are still listening🙏
Hi Michael,I have been listening to you guys ever since the beginning. You have been my favorite Christian metal band and I just wanted to tell you thank you for all the great music and messages that you have put out over the years.May God continue to bless you all.💛🖤🙏👍👍💪
Thanks for the explanation. Been listening to Stryper since 1985, and this is my favorite ballad to date. Thanks for continuing to put out great music.
Thanks for addressing that. I was thinking I would like to see the other guys, but I can understand about budgets. Thanks for the video and the new music...
Brilliant song in other ways the music industry proves its garbage today there is amazing music being made being played bands like Stryper go out make incredible records they deserve more recognition and honestly more respect in the music industry but I being a fan since 85 I'm still on the Stryper train and I am not getting off 🙂
I still can't comprehend why Stryper isn't bigger. The last few releases have been some of the best albums released by any artist in the last few years.
Unfortunately the music industry (what’s left of it) is more cutthroat, now than ever. It’s more about marketability and less about talent. No big shock, there. I used to work for a number of A and R and record execs, in the early and mid 2000’s. When A and R would present a new band, the first question was, how old are they and what do they look like? …..not, can they play? That’s the sad truth.
Hair Metal's time has passed there's just a few of us keeping the fire alive. You can do your part by introducing the younger generation to Stryper, Dokken, Twisted Sister, Skid Row, etc... That's what I'm doing. Gotta show the kids what real music is like
Aquí en México se presentaron como cabezas de cartel de los dos festivales de metal más grandes de México,en uno tocaron junto a behemoth y mercyful fate.
Since I moved over to the UK getting more exposure to numerous bands in Europe it's mind blowing the how many great bands are not getting the playing time or exposure this is not the 80's where we had MTV Much Music etc the days of getting excited hearing the latest new song from your favourite bands , we will never see that generation ever again , today is rap or crap electronic , now I'm seeing complete songs done with AI , Stryper should be one a world tour , they should be playing at least 5000 seats a night just being modest , Micheal and the band are writing and creating great music the best they done since the 80's in fact better, the music industry in my opinion is corrupt to the core , they have always been corrupt all we can do as fans is support our bands the best we can , have you notice the bands on tour selling out big stadiums and arena's are established bands what happens when Maiden Priest Scorps Metallica etc retire , who is going to fill those stadiums and arena's , We lived in a great generation of music I still listen to the music it's great when young people get hooked on our music , don't you wish there was time machine you could just go back even for day ,
Of all of the bands from back in the 80s, this is the only one of them that is not still just as good, but has gotten even better than they were before. Michael’s vocals are amazing.
O engraçado é que quando ouvi Stryper pela primeira vez eu definitivamente não gostei. Achei muito esquisito. Hoje são minha banda favorita e Michael cantor favorito. 😂🎉
Stryper is still sounding good after 40 years of rocking out. Stryper should actually go on tour with Skillet, that would be a perfect tour. Stryper rocks.🎸🎸
7 albums in a row that are masterpieces. They continue to put out the best music of their career, and far better than anything the majority of their peers are putting out. Continue the good fight fellas!!!!
Michael, this might be my favorite Stryper ballad, I love it!! That chorus just sticks in my head. So glad you made a video for this one. Great work, as always.
I've been a member of the Yellow & Black since Day 1... when it wasn't cool to be a Stryper fan. I have been, and always will be!!!! Rock on to Heaven!!!
Stryper is the first band I ever got into and they are still one of my favorite bands. I have spent literally thousands of hours listening to them and I knew EVERY SINGLE WORD to EVERY SONG the first concert of theirs I went to. I’m a huge fan! All of their early stuff is tremendous and even some of their more recent albums like Fallen and GDE as well are great. But I just gotta say the new stuff hasn’t reached the place of the originals. I speak not only for myself but for my family(which has multiple Stryper fans🤘🏼). While we appreciate the band’s effort to stay true to their message and style, the music itself feels stagnant. The songs lack the distinct riffs and creative flair that once set them apart. Everything blends together with a monotone feel-there’s little progression, both within the songs and across the albums. The melodies don't build much, and the hooks that used to grab you just aren’t there. Some songs start out promising but none of them have the explosive power that albums like To Hell With The Devil have. Each track sounds similar to the last, and the albums don't have the same depth or emotional impact that earlier works had. It’s clear the band still has passion, but the music no longer feels fresh or innovative. I miss the dynamic compositions and unique soundscapes that defined Stryper's earlier years. I hope the band can take some risks in future projects and bring back the creativity that made them legends. I don’t say this to discourage but rather to promote encouragement to get back to the roots that makes Stryper such an amazing band. You hear songs like See No Evil, Hear No Evil or Same Old Story and they lack the gripping aspects that songs like Yahweh, Calling On You, Surrender and much of their other work does so well. Again, this is not to be negative. I love you Michael, Robert, Oz, and Perry and my hope is just that you guys can get back to your original Stryper roots(and FireHouse for Perry) of amazing, melodic, best of the best, face melting and heart warming music that yall have put out so many times! Yall rock!
Although Michael commented that they didn’t have enough money to make a band video for this, I think it’s great. What strikes me though is the fact that the band has consistently put out amazing album after amazing album on Frontiers to lead up to their best right here. While I see Extreme making videos for almost every song on their album as well as Winger making at least a few high quality videos for their latest album, it blows my mind that Stryper essentially gets a video and a half from Frontiers every album.
Mannnnnn...that voice never changes.... one of the few... if any that have made it out alive and kicking 100%...I'm so thankful for it... keep it going as long as you can my man... we are all ears
I love the song, and I very much love the whole album! 🟨⬛🟨⬛🟨⬛🟨 The footage of Michael is fantastic and his voice and guitar are phenomenal... I'm not happy about the AI though... That's all... everything else is exceptional! ⚔️❤️⚔️
Thanks for the insights Michael! From my perspective as a fan & guitarist myself, if anyone follows Stryper it is obvious without question that the band members are supportive of you and the others. Also, I appreciate you giving insight about the nature of the song...I asked about it in the Patreon Coffee Talk last night not knowing you talked about it here. "Betrayed by Love" is deep & thought provoking. I knew Jesus asked God why have you forsaken Me before He gave up His Spirit; But, was wondering where is Michael going with this? 😊 Then it dawned on me...this is Stryper :) Brilliant on many levels!...which people who don't follow Stryper are not gonna get.
Excellent songwriting, video, vocals & music! The solo is Mega-Marvo! AI is Great. Use it wisely. It's a form of art. WE utilize it in OUR videos. It's like there's hand squeezed orange juice & that made by a mechanical device. It's still orange juice made by man. GOD ROCKS!
Mike.. When I commented on it being just you, I wasn't complaining at all, I was just a bit surprised. I actually dig a lot of the imagery in there. Very different from anything you've done before, so props for that.
Oh what a great surprise music video to one of my favorite songs on the new album betrayed my love is there going to be a music video to rhyme of time also that would be awesome also the video to some of the other songs on the new album as well would be cool grateful should have a music video also
I grew up on Free, To Hell With The Devil, Soldiers Under Command, In God We Trust, Lonely, Lady, All For One. Man, Stryper just doesn't make them like they used to.
Todavia conservan la magia. son muy pocas bandas dentro del rock o metal que se mantienen asi. ellos, riot v y quizas alguna que otra banda mas. temazo!
