These guys won a lot if kids to the Lord in the 1980's. Their reward in heaven will be great. Thank you Jesus for Stryper. What a gift from God they are. Love you guys!
Well, sounds (No More Hell To Pay) like God wanted it to happen again. I hope they continue to be blessed, to bless others and be used by God. I've been blessed by enjoying the music.
The interview was held at Azusa University, in Azusa, CA back in 2001. How do I know? Well, I was one of the few who actually got a pass by the guy who filmed this video, to go inside and join them as they interviewed the guys!! I have pictures with the guys inside the dressing room! Great time!! Privileged to have been a part of this event!
Stryper puts on a great show.Years ago I was fortunate to see them as an opening act , and as a headliner.Soldiers under Command was and still is one of their best albums.
Stryper is a people that God wants to use and has used in a mighty way. God's children live by faith these men are men of faith. Remember without faith it is impossible to please God these men live by faith. I thank God for this band because they have touched my life and many other people for the Lord.
I remember staying up late on Friday nights to see a Stryper video on this show called Real Videos on TBN. I would watch weekends after weekends hoping the video would be on but it was rare. But still when I finally saw the video, I was so happy. At the time the only Stryper video out was "You know what to do".
Wow Rob....awesome words "if you can influence people to come to Jesus and you don't do it, it's criminal..." The whole band rocks (literally and figuratively lol)!
The Second Stryper Expo was a lot of fun. You had Priesthood, Joshua, Oil and Ultimatum on the outside stage, and East-West, Disciple, Micheal Sweet, Sin Dizzy and Stryper on the inside stage.
Stryper has always impressed me with their sincerity. I like the fact that here they are willing to expose their scars and the fact that they still know God has a plan for them. Not to mention, they make great music. There is room in metal for all genres. We should embrace that.
This is by far the most inspirational video I've ever seen!! Right you were Robert, looking back now! Everyone has a right to "be" and I've been through some of the stuff I've heard them talk about. I had a dream of playing in a band with my two brothers. It happened, started with God and ended somewhere in horror - street. Reunion pending (2017) The people in Stryper are real. The emotions are real. The challenges are real. Christianity is not about not ever having challenges in your life, it is about how you overcome. Thank you Robert for being real and genuine!
I've been a Stryper fan since they hit the music scene. In fact, I was in a Christian band back in the 80's and covered their music as well as others (Bloodgood, Barren Cross, White Cross, Sacred Warrior, Bride). Raleigh Rob: All of this being said, 'No More Hell To Pay' is my favorite. Hands down. Like you, I am blessed by all of their music.
I discover Stryper when I was about 12 13 years old and I'm still a fan to this day I'm so happy that they got back together Tim and then longer in here in the band this is an old documentary so that they get back together
I have followed STRYPER since the beginning. Those days were great when they were it for Christian Music and Rock n Roll. The new album "No More Hell To Pay" is so good, i am blown away by the quality and musicianship. It is the best hard rock /metal album i have heard in years.
It has happened in stages, & I think Michaels' words ring true here. Oz is spot on as well, (not saying Rob or Tim are in any way "wrong" or less important than Michael & Oz, they all have been through the ringer), by waiting, they do have renewed strength, they have flown as eagles, God's Hands are in it, with a cover album that showed off just how incredibly musically gifted Stryper truly is. 'No More Hell To Pay' is in mine, and many experts opinions, far and away the bands BEST EVER ALBUM, a great 'live' album followed, & they are now snowed in, recording what may be Strypers' most important, most pivotal recording to date. I could not be happier for anyone in the music industry. Here's to an album that equals or possibly even surpasses 'NMHTP', if anybody in music is capable of doing it, it's this quartet! Kids are digging the music, the fan base is expanding, and soldiers all over the globe are eagerly anticipating these guys touring the world once again.
I will always be a fan of STRYPER ... they are the first Christian ROCK band I had ever heard and look at how their music influenced so many other bands to use their GOD given talent to spread the word to so many people who don’t even realize that the word of god is the message 🌈
still got all my brothers stryper poster and memorabilia from the early mid 80s he was a huge fan he is a pastor now and was gonna throw them away i was like hell no! me i am a reformed christian i believe in science but nothing wrong with people believing in a higher power but strtpers music is the shit
I am so glad the dream came true and Stryper REALLY got together again after this reunion in Terms of making new multiple Albums.Still so much fruit on the tree as Rob was saying.I love the later Albums with their awesome artwork though have yet to hear all of GDE and ETDB.I must buy them soon .I hear there's yet another on the way.I only wish other 80s hair metal Christian bands would take a leaf from Stryper's book (adventure log) and do the same.Return and record new Hard Rock and Metal Albums.I don't understand why they don't.Be creative for the Lord with your tremendous talents.I especially wish Ransom would come back.
2:40 Amen, Robert! He always knows what to say in interviews, so does Mike. I've been a fan of these guys for a year an five days and it's been a blast! #Rocking4TheOneWhoIsTheRock
Stryper rock pure and simple, whether your a christian or not,or believe in god,the fact of the matter is these guys are so talented, and make awesome music, just listen to the vocals, and the harmonies pure class!!
I had tickets to see Stryper at the Marquee, London, here in England back 1991. They cancelled because Tim Gaines (I think) was ill. I was gutted. Fast forward 30+ and I still haven't seen the band live. It's still on my "to do" list.
Stryper has been a legit Christian rock band since the 80s. Came around with the hair bands of the 80s. They're some of the best musicians I've heard in hard rock/metal. They just don't get the same attention because they are Christian.
Been listening for a long time kick ass band I listen to all metal and my friends have me shit for listening to them don't care they rock with the best of them !!!!!!!
And like Lazarus they rose, came forward and are BETTER THAN EVER!! Even the devil believes Stryper new album Sept 4, 2020 gets your preordered today!!
Seeing them sitting on the stage talking about how they’re going their own ways and no more Stryper...seems that He had other plans in mind for them. Even The Devil Believes is a KILLER album and you’d never believe it came out in 2020.
Music is a personal preference. A generational issue and not a Biblical issue. Judge it by its content not by the style or beat. Because beat has nothing to do with God. ... SO LET'S ROCK FOR GOD'S GLORY... STRYPER, YOU'RE GOD'S SERVANT ROCKER! SPREAD HIS LOVE THROUGH ROCK N' ROLL!

Many of you that make these evil comments on this band and many others, must have a really horrible life. Try as you may to turn it around and at least criticize what is evil. The Bible will turn you in a better direction.
I find it SO ironic that Robert is all over this thing saying the time was right for a reunion and he was ready etc.... Then a couple years later when they DID reunite, according to Michael, Robert was so ill prepared (didn't learn the songs or even set up his kit) that they had to use a different drummer on Reborn! wish I could ask Robert why he wasn't prepared!!!
Actually, it was "Murder by Pride" that Robert didn't play drums on. So far though, since that album, he's on point for preparedness on album recording sessions.
Michael was on Chris Jericho's podcast a few weeks ago and said Robert used to be really involved with the band and came up with all the album titles and now he doesn't help write lyrics or get involved with anything. Robert seems like a weird guy
dude I got to see him three times in the 80s I got to see him with TNT once I got to see him with loudness once and I got to see him with hurricane onceand they always left all the other bands in the dust but hurricane was a very good band just in case you don't know it is to lead singer who sings her for now Kelly Hansen from hurricane is Foreigner lead singer now the classic rock band Foreigner and he sounds just like Lou grammhurricane where a great band loudness was a great band TNT was a great man but stryper what is the headliner for a reason man did they put on a great show especially on the to hell with the devil tour🤘
Why did this video only show the mentally challenged fans. Makes it appear as if Stryper fans are freaks. I was surprised to see someone actually credited themselves as the "director" of this video. It was pretty bad. Love Stryper though.
first time? lets see. I think it was around 1987 in Middle school. guys would wear iron maiden shirts, slayer megadeth, motley crue shirts and I had the to hell with the devil tour shirt.. I was heavily into Iron Maiden and Wasp...also loved dokken, Cinderella, great white tesla, dangerous toys, savatage too many bands,,tooo many.. gosh those were terrible times if u know what I mean :-) you know what I graduated from high school Lol!!!!
And now Michael Sweet claims that Stryper is "not a Christian Rock band" and that he doesn't know where anyone ever got the idea that it was. I guess Michael is trying to re-write history...
This is a great interview. Although Michael is wrong, it had been done before. They were not the first Christian hard rock or heavy metal band although they certainly broke down barriers. I love Stryper, they just weren't the first.
Michael never said the band was, nor did he claim that Stryper "created Christian heavy metal." He was implying that Christian metal wasn't a trending thing until Stryper came along.
Barnabas, Resurrection Band, Saint. are just a few that were also paving the way for Christian hard music. Stryper may have been the first to sign with a secular label and certainly was the first to get the amount of notoriety in the main stream music world. BTW this is not Richard Fish. I'm just using his computer.
