Love stryper as a Christian and a Metalhead I thank God for stryper that allows me and many other to worship and praise God in the hardcore way of heavy metal, and yes God I stand as a Soldier under your command, love you jesus you are my everything, God bless stryper.
I was listening other metal bands when this song was on the same l p.wasn't a fan of Christian music but loved this song.since then I've listened to them and many others.finally gave my heart to CHRIST and in part due to stryper, whiteheart, petra and others.check out their song Take it to the cross .it really showcases Michael's vocals.
People just don't know what they're watching. Guys that actually qualify as musicians, for one. A singer that qualifies as a true vocalist. In every regard and on every instrument they're great. Robert Sweet was one of the best too. Just fantastic all around and a band that still plays as good as they ever have.
Michael and Oz are the most underrated twin guitar attack in the history of metal!!! Great harmonies, technical proficiency, tight rhythyms, and insane compatibility. What more could anyone ask for?? I'd put them up there with Downing/Tipton, and Smith/Murray any day.
True..... I saw them twice back in the day... Live, they'd blow every Metal band right off stage... The only one that comes close live is Scorpions back in the day.
Seen a lot of bands since the 80s, from Bon Jovi to Anthrax basically, and these guys were the tightest and musically the best back in the day and recently. To play those riffs and sing and harmony solos are not easy. Probably one of the heaviest of glam rock bands also. A good friend of mine went to an autograph signing back in about 1989 and accidently got pushed through a window and got hurt, Stryper came to visit him in hospital.
Michael Sweet has one of the best voices on the planet. Stryper has been and is still a fantastic band. They rock in the name of the Lord. They rock period....................
One major benefit of being a religiously devout band is that the lifestyle sustains the vocal and playing chops of the personnel. Sweet has the toughest range to maintain. Much respect.
Stryper has "ALWAYS" been a musicians band to look up to no matter what their own promo beliefs may be. I have always been wowed by their talent. Vocal harmonies have always been insane too.
I've always loved Stryper since I was 16 I'm now 46. I got to see there Concert and meet them in Honolulu Hawaii. Would love to see them in Concert again Here in Biloxi Mississippi.
As soldiers we need these good words of encouragement. This is the way to remember. He is guiding all of us to prepare for spiritual battle. To be on a good side not the bad side. You want to fight for God. Be on the side where your brothers and sisters we give you support as you give them support in this spiritual battle.
stryper is an incredibly underrated 80s band. I think it's because they will strictly Christian rock that they aren't as popular as all other hot 80s bands.
That's basically because we have become brainwashed by the music industry and by them pushing away the christian metal bands and they figure they wouldn't make any revenue!!!
NFLization Wise comment and i believe thats sadly true. I saw them when they first came out with the ridiculous bumble bee looking outfits and they were so talented and awesome live.
I wouldn't say strictly Christian. They had a moment where they did a commercial metal album "Against the Law." Also, they were pretty popular back in their hey day.
They have balls for sure. True integrity. They could have dropped the Christ angle at any time and started raking in money as the heaviest glam/power metal band of the Sunset Strip. Instead, they took endless crap for holding true to the Lord. I have huge respect to them for that.
I had an opportunity to see Stryper live a few years back. They're still amazing. No drugs or alcohol. Michael still has the same amazing voice he's always had.
We are the soldiers under God's command We hold His two-edged sword within our hands We're not ashamed to stand up for what's right We win without sin, it's not by our might And we're fighting all the sin And the good book -- it says we'll win! [Chorus] Soldiers, Soldiers, under command Soldiers, Soldiers, fighting the Lords battle plan [Verse 2] Are you a soldier under God's command Help fight the good fight, join us while you can The battle that's waiting is fought so easily Through Him, without sin there is victory And were fighting all the sin And the good book -- it says we'll win!
I HAD THE LUCK OF COULD SEE THEM IN 2005 IN LORCA ROCK AND IT WAS A DREAM TO SEE ONE OF MY MOST INFLUENCING BANDS IN MY YOUTH. WITH THE YEARS THEY HAVE MATURED LIKE THE GOOD WINES. MICHAEL SINGS BETTER THAN EVER. AND THIS VIDEO REALLY RINGS GLORY.
Still as strong, if not stronger, then when it was released 35 year ago. God bless Stryper for giving the world some of the finest HM music ever made (HM standing for His Majesty as well as heavy metal)
Man these guys just SHREEEEEEEEEAD! Probably the best performance of this song I have seen. "We don't need no bass player...just listen to the twin shreds". This is how I remember the 80's...recordings where you can barely if at all hear the bass....and the guitars were in your face.
They just preformed this song better than they ever did in any of their recordings. Stryper is obvious a true MONSTER of Rock! Oz Fox was just axing it all up!
30 years later and they still have it! I was a singer in a Christian rock band that actually got to play with Stryper, great memories.... I love how Michael lets the crowd sing the high parts! I don't blame him at all lol! Looking forward to seeing these guys in July!
The crowd was totally into to it. There were just no mics picking up the crowd response like an official live recording. All the audio you hear in this video is from the bands mics.
I was a metal head back then but didn't listen to them because the media portrayed them as corny. I didn't know they were platinum artists. Now I'm 46 and no longer listening to that genre but love them, I guess cause I'm a christian. Long live Stryper!
This is one of the first songs that I learned to play, when learning to play drums. I got the tape when it came out and wore it out. it was so worn, it would speed up and slow down but I kept playing it until it finally broke.
Stryper rocks! My favorite band in junior high circa 1987, my tastes evolved over the years as I got into more aggressive metal, but recently seen guys are back again and have rediscovered my love for those great melodic songs. Rock on Stryper!!
Saw Stryper 3 days ago in Bogota. I flew with my wife from another city just to see them. One of the best nights of my life. The whole crowd went nuts with them. We really appreciate what a magnificent band they are. Something to think about with people in the US you people don't appreciate what you have. Stryper is a living legend , one of the greatest bands in the world and the only band hat's worth today. God bless you boys we love you and wait to see you again in our country.
Thank you. We shot this on a ship in the middle of the ocean too. There are zero over dubs or edits and 100% Stryper on this one. Wish we had audience mics to help capture the crowd singing but things move a lot out there and it can get pretty windy.
sweet memories!the fav band of my youth still sounding great.thank alot the creator of all being for these guys and thank you bernd for nice rememberance
And the Lord said, make a joyous noise. Many rock band's have failed in evil ways, x pursed worldly ways for personal use x gain. Stryper still rock because our God is with them in this fight. God bless you all who ever you are. Xxxxx
Soooooo much talent! Most bands of one decent lead guitar player, stryper has two very awesome lead guitar players. Michael Sweet is absolutely amazing!
Well, as an aetheist the lyrics are a little preachy for my liking, but the musicianship is undeniable. Some of the best I've seen. Props to them for being unafraid of trying to work a seemingly disinterested crowd. Tough gig.
yeah there's an irony in this ha ha! They are all about positive energy and delivering the goods but straight people - left, right, christian, whatever they assert - are the pits.
What your complaining about is equivalent to going to a dam Behemoth concert and saying ohhh there to satanic like what did you expect there Christian's they love God and wanna live there lives and music dedicated to him. Rush talks about greek mythology megadeth politics and so much other stuff every band has there thing. Nothing negative is being said about you or unbelievers so I dont get the preachyness. Every band is preaching something now isnt it? Even though you may not realize it. Maybe people just dont like to hear about God at all or else they feel condemned. You have a good day sir.
@@ixa-3140 Well I've never been to a Stryper gig, so your argument falls over right there. However, I'm always open to exploring new bands - or bands I've just overlooked before. So I'll always check out videos just to see what they're all about. I'm not so anti-God that I'm gonna condemn them for what they do. You notice I actually praised their musicianship?
Thanks for the memories, me and my wife were on this Monstors of rock cruise Both 2012 and 2013. Stryper did both cruises. We are going to the 2104 cruise, sad to see and hear Stryper will not be on the 2014 cruise. They were the best band their! The crowd was louder in person than this tape sounds. The 1st annual Stryper fan appreciation weekend last october was fantastic. We will be back next year and will bring our 4 daughters this time. Thanks for class act event and great weekend in Nashville. Mike & Dianne Fenton, MI
