Nice tie, I'll try that style too: is there a reason for not following Popovics' recipe. And by that I mean that the bunch of bucktail hair is first tied to the shank and the hackles then added around it. I'm curious about this version. Thanks!
Pops ties the bucktail on first, in order to create a support foundation for the feathers. It helps to keep them from fouling while casting. Nice fly in this video, but it's not a Semper Fleye.
