​@@Slackow Honestly it's still weird. Doctors, nurses, therapists, and other medical professionals are supposed to have what is called a "therapeutic relationship" with their patients. This relationship involves a very uneven power dynamic as the professional may see the patient through some of their darkest moments and provide care which can sometimes be very embarrassing and undignified. However, the patient does not do those things for the professional. Any relationship with an uneven power dynamic makes consent an issue. Plus, healthcare workers and patients thinking of each other as fair game when patient status ends puts both of them in danger. It makes both more vulnerable to sexual harassment and compromises care by causing the patient to be more reluctant to be fully honest and hindering the professional from doing their job properly by having them be emotionally invested. This is in addition to the concept of "transference" where people start to wrongly develop romantic feelings for a medical professional. For all of these reasons, when a therapeutic relationship is no longer needed (like when the patient leaves the hospital), the relationship between those two people is supposed to be terminated entirely. Starting off like that, it's hard to develop the relationship into a more equalized dynamic. It would be like if an adult who knew someone when they were a child later meets that now grown-up child and gets into a relationship with them. Even though that child is now an adult with a fully developed brain, the relationship is still very much influenced from a time they were not, and that's sketchy af.

@@brianthesnail3815 not only do I doubt that you worked a ranch at all I highly doubt you worked a ranch that raised bulls for slaughter. Almost all meat from cows is made from slaughtered steers which you would know if you actually worked a ranch before. Also (a steer is a castrated bull which makes the meat more tender and fattier since I doubt you knew that as well).

@@nashbutler I am in the UK. We reared 'bull beef'. Uncastrated male cattle, grass fed and indoors. Its a different much more intensive system to US ranch systems - more like a stockyard system.

160 degrees Fahrenheit does not do third degree burns. I used to work with wax at 160 degrees and my job was putting peoples hands into it. Also most household water heaters in the US max out at 160. Prolonged exposure and direct contact will burn but it’s first degree mostly unless the exposure is beyond roughly 5 minutes of direct contact

@@chaoticpyra I'm sorry dude, but either you were misinformed about the temperature (probably actually 130F?) or you were giving people wax burns. Higher temperature burns you exponentially faster because of faster heat transfer into your tissue, but this is literally a temperature measured in the body like a meat thermometer. If it were beef, 160F would be a medium steak.

I remember, during the recruiting period, there are many candidates tried to impress him by being a yes-man to his idea like kinda sucking up to their boss. He fired them in the first round. He finally keeps only the ones who dare to argue with him.

Every episode of House has a lesson in ethics to be considered. Dr. House has sterling ethics that you cannot teach or find easily in any given hospital. The rest of the characters in the show all fail at least once in their own way over the course of the series. Some are worse than others, but all of them judge Dr. House when none of them hold a candle to his code of personal ethics and I think they all secretly know it. Whenever Dr. House breaks the rules, it's always the correct ethical choice, regardless of the law. I think the show is extremely well written. In most cop shows, you see the cops bending the rules and skipping warrants or breaking and entering like the ends justify the means. You never see Columbo do that. He's perfectly by the book and respects the rights of the accused even after they are caught. I think Dr. House is the Columbo of medicine. It's the only medical show I ever watch and I think the writing and acting is better than most shows that I've ever seen on television.

I'm pretty sure metal messes up a CT scan. I don't know much about medical imaging though. In the hostage house episode it's used as an excuse for the guy to put his gun down.

Aneurysm. They had to basically break it open by doing what was suggested to his heart. It goes badly at first (for dramatic effect) but they manage to fix everything.

metal implants can deteriorate the image of a CT scan and with how many he had in his head, can mean it's almost impossible to get a clean read on what's wrong with him.

Because x-rays won't penetrate titanium... and he has half of his skull replaced with it.

Look up CTs that have metal in them and tell me how useful they are. The refractory effect they have on the image is blinding. Since always metal has been a big barrier to CT, not contraindication.

So no, I think this is about physical attraction, and it's unconvincing since the guy is not unusually attractive.

@trapd00rspider I didn't understand he was meant to be attractive at first, I assumed Masters was acting weird around him because she knew him before, or something - I was all set to get an exciting backstory. But then the dialogue made it clear he was meant to be hot... And I don't personally think it's too much to ask that casting takes into account whether or not someone ticks the "conventionally attractive" box when they are cast specifically for a role that needs them to be hot.

Yeah, I didn't get it, either. I remember thinking, "Gee, Masters, you work every day with _Chase,_ who is not only much, MUCH better-looking but also, just as a bonus, is *not* as dumb as a bag of hammers! Hello?"

I just googled what DEI means, oh god. So your proposal is to restart the show......but take out all the blacks, Mexicans, Asians, Latinas. Just have white people in the hospital, patients, doctors, administrators, and even the janitor. This wouldn't resemble a real hospital in the US. Maybe the show can be renamed to The White House MD.
