Hello, thats not fine that the elevator get out of service by doing an safety test. Have you test few minutes later if the elevator get back automaticly from out of service? Have you informed stuff to repair the elevator? MfG Jan

Did you use a stick or other tool to reach the interlock ? (Too thin of a gap to slip your hand between the car and the wall as far as I see)

When you break the safety chain (with the stop button for instance) on some generics, it will shut down and make the lift stuck until the car top switch is put into Inspection then in Normal (Or the main breaker turned off then on in the motor room). I know that in France this is made that way as a safety feature to prevent the lift from moving again in case of unauthorized shaft door opening from outside (with a key). In a way it will prevent lift surfing but if the surfer knows about that, this will be pretty useless. Anyways if you had a 9mm socket wrench or pipe wrench or a 9mm triangle key you would have been able to close the door from outside. Maybe you could also (without a key) reach the cartop control panel and flip the switch as mentioned above or maybe get on top of the lift and surf it !

This is just straight up half ass modernization/workmanship if the computer lost position of the car in the shaft from simply pressing the stop button, it could very well also happen from a brownout or 2 second power failure, with a heart attack victim inside. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Modern computer controllers have the potential to be more reliable than anything else but must be installed and programmed correctly, otherwise they have the potential to be less reliable also.
