During my travel to India, I faced a grave challenge. A 14 hour layover at the Abu Dhabi airport. This video shows my struggle of spending those 14 hours alone in an airport which is not so....amazing I would say.
This video can also serve as How to spend a long layover at Abu Dhabi airport. I have also listed some tourist attractions that can be visited during the stay.

Hi Sekander. Thanks for uploading the detailed video. I am travelling with two kids and have 9 hours transit on abu dhabi airport. I am eligible for on arrival visa. Do you suggest I should stay in lounge for 6 hours or should go through immigration and stay in premier inn hotel?? This hotel is close to the airport but I am not sure how long immigration process takes???

Usually, the hotel prices are around the same as the lounge, but you’ll have to take a cab as well. If your layover is at night, then hotel is better for sleep and comfort because there are no beds in lounge. The visa process hardly takes 5-10 mins, unless there is a long queue

If you're traveling through Etihad, you might be able to avail a free stopover from Etihad, known as transit connect.

If you don't have the UAE visa you need to apply for a Transit visa in order to exit to abu dhabi

Apply for a transit visa in advanced and go out and explore, you may even want to stay in a hotel, they are cheap in UAE

Make an official compliant. They should refund the full amount. I got mine last time for 5 hours delay.
