Here is a short update video on our travels where I got my BMW G650GS stuck in a muddy deep rut on the Trans Euro Trail. The rut was so narrow that the foot pegs got jammed and the mud made it impossible to get out without some teamwork. Fortunately we have a motorcycle recovery kit, some nearby trees, and good weather. Time to get to work!

But what would we do without our kitchen sink 😂? Thanks for the comment. Removing the bags was the next step if the pulley system didn’t work.

I know it looks like a lot of weight but everything we carry is less than 100 lbs. Still a lot - but we live on these bikes - they are our full-time home. We feel that some comforts, like a large comfortable tent, sleeping pads, foldable camp chairs, and even a Nintendo Switch, are worth the weight.

maybe a silly question as I haven't ridden such a terrain, but why can't you just not go on surface outside of the track? Seems pretty stable and dry.

Great question. The sides of the “road” were very wooded and the terrain between the ruts was so narrow and wet that there was an excellent chance that we would have slid into the ruts anyways and possibly hurt ourselves or the bikes in the process.
