This is the easiest way I found to remove a turbo cartridge from the exhaust housing. It works every time! Built a little “mini press” from some bolts!
Man, I just got a used turbo, I watched like 100 videos to try to get it loose. Everyone was recommending hitting the cast part with a hammer, and that didn't work. I tried for about 3 days to get it loose. I tried this method and worked in like 5 minutes. You're a hero.
Trust me. I done the same thing. I beat on one for a week trying to get it apart and I had a guy tell me he could do it in 10 minutes. I didn’t believe him and this is what he did. So I thought I’d share. No sense in struggling.
@@mksmotorsport4049 this is a longshot, but do you have any tricks to remove the turbine backplate? (The little round thing with the shitty torx screws)
I came back to this video to let you know this helped me. My HX52 turbine house was stuck hard. I built jigs to hold the turbo. I hit it as hard as i felt comfortable. Then i tried this and it worked great. I used an old 13mm socket instead of tubing. Thanks
Great idea.. I was thinking of creating a similar tool, but some turbos like my Subaru VF52 you have nothing to press against on the other opposite side of the hot turbine housing..
Dude. When someone showed me years ago it saved my ass! And I’ve had to try to explain it to some friends before. So I decided to make this video lol. It’s useful in so many things lol
