Final video of the Studebaker Avanti refresh showing how the car turned out. Watch Part 1 to see what it looked like before! My next project has already been started and video of that will be coming soon!
I love these cars, growing up in Europe they were rare as hens teeth. I saw one in London as a kid in the 80's, and I was smitten. Just binge watched the whole series, love the originality of this example and your approach to restoration. What a pleasure to see, immediately subscribed.
Thanks for your encouragement and nice comments! I was fortunate as I drove a 63 R2 Avanti in college in the 80's as a daily driver. It was a great car.
Thanks Steve! I appreciate it. Lots of nice driving Studebakers out there. They dont cost much and parts are easy to find. Come join in the fun! The Studebaker Drivers Club is a great place to start.
@@neilloughlin7080 Thanks for the response! Many years ago, I had a '66 Daytona and my dad had a '59 Lark. We were members of SDC and I think somewhere there is a whole stack of Turning Wheels! I've always had a soft spot for the '50 and '51 "bullet nose" cars, the '53 Starliners, Hawks, and Avantis. Maybe someday!
You missed the dash turn indicators, all knobs! However, thanks for the memories! Also, I'm going to use one of the still shots for my 'Wallpaper' if you don't mind!
I bought an Avanti ll 1982 a few weeks ago I don't know if I paid to much or a great deal paid $ 15,000, knowing it needed work brakes, front end stuff, shocks, master cylinder, tires, due to they were 13 years old. When I got new tires I tried to get an alignment then other parts needed I get parts from from an Nostalsgic Motors an old Avanti dealer so far I have spent about $ 2,500 on parts and labor. It's only had two owners since new and had little road time in the last 11 years due to health issues of the owner. It came with about 100,000 miles, has a great running 305 Chevy engine and smooth trans, body is almost perfect a nice white with sun roof, A/C, auto door locks with good fitting body, no rust in undercarriage. I live in Florida I can't believe how many ask what is this ? a couple admirers actually followed me telling me of there experience with Avanti in the past. I had a 1972 Avanti ll years ago but had to sell due to financial reasons, about two years ago I started to search for a used Avanti, interesting there is so many scams out there looking for a sucker, it takes a lot of weeding through the ads and pictures to find a real Avanti. I really enjoy driving the Avanti ll and once I get everything fixed it will be my dream car for my business I sell kitchen cabinets, people will not forget seeing the white strange car and the old man driving it { 81] Have you noticed only old guys like me own Avanti's LOL Thanks for your videos .
glad you are enjoying your Avanti II! They are fun cars and get a lot of attention. This car was a friends but I previously owned a '63 R2 Avanti. Sounds like you will be getting a lot of fun driving now that the front end repairs are done. Enjoy!
Thanks for following! I know my video work is sub standard for RU-vid but it was fun to put out some shots of the work while it was being done. I have a new project started so watch for video on that!
Remember when we all told you that you were gunna end up falling in love with the Golden Hawk? Remember that? LOL! The Avanti adventure has been fun! Excellent work Neil!
