Our student loan forgiveness was life changing. We went to college and have jobs in service to others in a costly area. I am beyond thankful. So grateful.
MAGA Boomer: at your age I paid off college & bought a house w/ hard work. Millennials: College use to be 3% of median salary; now it's 20%. A median home was $17K; now it's $363K. The top marginal tax rate was 70%; now it's 37%. You worked hard - and then closed the door behind you.
I don’t have any student loans. But I get Robo calls every day. “We can help you with your student loans that you owe.”. If this will stop these calls I’m all for it.
I agree. If he truly cares about hus followers and has any integrity, he'd admit he was wrong about the Vacc and steer hus peeps in a different direction. Am concerned for him though and hope he's ok.
I paid my $40,000 student loans off myself working two nursing jobs. I would like to receive money back for paying it off. Fair is fair…why did I work so damn hard.
My adult nephew has a Parent loan for his daughter that ballooned from $10,000 to over $12,000 now, and he has never missed a payment. This will erase that and allow him to help his daughter pay hers. We are pleased.
I was just reading that you still have to apply for the forgiveness. Application will be available in October, if i'm not mistaken, and the deadline is November 15, 2022. Check it out.
I paid off one of my loans last year, had $5,700 left on another. Now I don’t have to worry about it. I was paying during the pandemic taking advantage of the no interest. So I’m satisfied. No idea why people are complaining. Well, I have an idea but I’ll keep it to myself lol
There was one person I heard that refinanced using private loans to get a lower rate and now they don't qualify. I think people are mad because its like the ants and the grasshopper story basically. There are different reasons why people are upset, I will start by saying at least this is something for more common people. 1. Some people sacrificed and paid off their loans. Being less responsible was rewarded. I had a job where workers who worked too slow were given raises to encourage people to work harder. 2. People feel it will add to inflation. I think what he said the video is basically true except removing that liability will cause less money to be taken back out of the money supply which was previously put in, helping to increase inflation in my opinion. 3. Let's say someone doesn't even care about 1 or 2, they may feel that many poor people don't even go to college, so its seen as government helping to pay for a luxury that others have in a sense. 4. I heard someone say, if people who went to college can't afford to pay their student loans how is someone who didn't go to college going to be able to pay for it. Basically look at #2 for details but free college is paid for from somewhere from us Treasury or via inflation from when the loan was created and money never being laid back to reverse that money creation process. Even if you tax corporations that will be passed to the consumer. So basically implying others will be paying and also implying if you have a degree you should be able to to make money to pay down the loan with a job that requires such degree. 5. I will add this one, per my personal beliefs. People need to take responsibility for getting degrees in music and other such things that cost 60k and there are obviously no jobs available for such a degree. People are free to pay their own money for such things or learn on their own. United is going broke as it is we can't afford to have half the degrees going to marine biology because she likes dolphins so she can get a job cleaning up monkey poop at the zoo. 6. I have not heard this but there might be more of certain racial groups that benefit than others, not sure. 7. As it is government subsidies seem to raise the price of things, loans have made school more expensive, because if people couldn't afford virtually any price colleges couldn't charge virtually any price. The only thing adding any pressure is the total size of the loan at some point someone will say I don't think it's worth it to have a one million dollar loan for a marketing degree, though I'm sure they are willing to take out 100,000 for a marketing degree lol. If people think loans are going to be forgiven anyway they will go ahead and take out a 300,000 for a degree to blow farts. If you have a marketing degree I will just say some are probably brilliant, and others can probably be schooled by people who are smart people without marketing degrees. 8. Some people used student loans to buy Bitcoin. Just saying. I don't know how true this is or not. I don't know if you need a completed degree or not to qualify for this or how that works. So theres 8 reasons why some people are upset. I think the supreme court may knock it down. I think Biden may know this but may feel it will not be knocked down until after the midterms, or may want to blame it all on the "evil" supreme court which has many Trump appointees.
@@rollingthunder6406 I know a kid whose dad took out student loans in the kid’s name, got the money, and left the kid to pay the bill. The dad took the money, divorced the kid’s mom, and left them pennyless while fleeing to Australia to get married to an Australian woman. The kid has been working waiting tables to pay the debt off while trying to care for his mom. Anyway, you are correct in what you wrote, especially number 5. Young people want to get a 150,000 college debt to work a 40,000 a year job. It says to me we need better guidance counselors.
@@rollingthunder6406 If the Supreme Court knocks it down, that’ll give people another reason to get Republicans out of office. And at least 60% of people support this move. I mean, this is one of the reasons why people voted for Biden. I think the “people are mad” view is being amplified by the political opposition machine, not actual people.

Hey doc, you take a look at the Australian TGA document obtained by FOIA? You should. Might make you regret taking those shots, giving them to your kid and embarass you for having recommended them so vigorously.
I love the idea of your ranch / glamping retreat business. I hope it really takes off. As always I appreciate your ability to cut through the drama and politics and present some pretty complex topics in a manner that almost anyone can comprehend. (BTW, I graduated with $40K in student loans, paid them all off and fully support the student loan forgiveness program)
Exactly! I worked with co workers/friends/family that paid there student loans off, BUT…collected child tax credits, unemployment & any federal dollars they could get there hands on & lived a good life. With that said, I work on healthcare frontline all through pandemic & present, still paid for my students loans even if it was on pause & never could collect any federal funds. Now I have to listen to all these co workers/friends/family bash me on how they hope the student loans don’t go through!! Same Same everyone tried to collect anything if they could! So much 💰 abuse! 🤷🏻♀️ just saying 🤭 btw good to see you dr v! 🤙
Hey you, Dr. V! When are you going to make videos discussing the issue of... Where Covid came from... There's a mess of info coming out and I'd really like to hear your impressions. Can you break it down as the investigations continue? Miss you buddy. Much love. 💕
It will cost the taxpayers BILLIONS in interest. ITS not free $$ . instead of adults paying their OWN OBLIGATED BILLS, we all get to pay. TWICE as much. I paid for MY school. ITS called " growing up, facing your responsibilities. It just makes even harder for the next group to even get a loan.
@@Patrick_Ross and pay the higher taxes they pay , sure why not? We are getting stiffed with the bill anyways. Cut the $$ elsewhere? Like LIMIT terms . Stop Lobbying. ?Cut welfare? Where do you want the $$ to come from??
Please stop with the inference that those of us who currently have loans are immature/irresponsible. Were you immature and irresponsible when you took out and paid off your loans? Of course not. When I went to school I lived at home with my parents, worked two part time jobs, paid cash for my car, didn't use credit (outside of emergencies, ie car repairs), and have never missed a payment for anything, ever. I don't like Biden's plan, but I will benefit from it for the remainder of my loan balance. I do think you and everyone else whose loans are already paid off are being shorted for sure. The government should issue a one time tax credit for those who paid loans since laws in the 70's were enacted that allowed schools and the government to be enriched at the expense of students and families taking out loans. Of course, the first thing they should have done is fixed the system for those entering/in college, but this isn't the first thing this administration got wrong.
It's actually refreshing to hear you talk about something other than COVID-19 (although I did very much appreciate those videos early on in the pandemic). Your perspective on student load forgiveness is spot on! Looking forward to more videos like this.
I'd like a video on the myocarditis deaths and sudden deaths among youths. Or an explanation for the top cause of death in Alberta being due to "unknown causes"..

How giving money away help anyone in the economy in the long term? More money given means higher inflation. Where do you all think this money is coming from? Tax payers! those that work hard to pay off their big truck that feed their family dont have any break in their debt. If someone is no college material to get a schoolarship, why dont try any trade school?
Dr. V, too much means testing. I agree, cancel it all but also implement free college. Otherwise, wiping the debt won't really matter. Canceling medical debt and but implement m4a. Otherwise, canceling the debt is useless. Credit, credit ratings and credit cards are all a scam. That should be abolished.
I paid off my daughter’s student loan last spring. Can I get some of those zeros back. Thanks to inflation, my standard of living is tanking. This is the first year that I have to dip into my savings to pay $5,000 in school taxes. LBJ figured out this inflation hidden tax to pay for his “great society” and the disastrous Vietnam War. I’ll never vote for a Democrat.

@@Patrick_Ross I definitely vote. Democrats think like Stalin who said “It doesn’t matter who votes, it’s who counts the votes”. Welcome to the future.
You know you can have student debt without actually completing the education for whatever reason and obtaining the degree. I imagine a lot of people with student loan debt that haven’t already paid it off either never finished the degree or went to an extremely expensive school.
A loan is a promise to pay back whether it's for a car or an education. If you wreck the car or you don't finish the schooling, you still owe the money. Think it through before you borrow, don't bite off more than you can chew, and be responsible!
I disagree with your advice to not be upset about student loan forgiveness. It’s a slap in the face to the honest people who paid their debt. It’s irresponsible and sends the wrong message.
So if you're so "honest" why aren't you angry at the congressional leaders and representatives that had hundreds of thousands in PPP loans forgiven? I swear Americans love seeing their fellow countrymen suffer but don't care if the wealthy or privileged get a hand out. It shows college failed to make people critical thinkers.
@@kristiemao4275 nah it’s most likely that 60% thay don’t have a college degree or just miserable ass people mad about everything but also envious and bootlicking at the rich
They are basically just removing a small amount of what people owe the department of education, which EARNS interest off loaning students funds to go to school. Most people will still pay significantly more then what they are removing from their balance.
It's honestly just a drop in the bucket, I'm going to be 400K in debt by the time I finish veterinary school in 2025 and that's without any student debt from undergrad :/
All these haters cryin' bout 400k for an education when they are upto thier eyballz in dept with an upside down auto and house loan doin' a job anyone can do as long as they have a good back...🤣
Why are college graduates low income? What did they study, and why? And why would anyone want to lend money to a student who’s studying something that won’t lead to a decent income?
Just because you don't graduate/get a degree, does not mean you don't have student loan debt. I think that ppl are p.o.'d mainly because they PAID their debt. Worked it off for years, and now these kids aren't having to buck up and pay their debt. Some people really struggled for years to pay it off. My husband did not end up graduating, it took him 20 years and having to live with his parents for a long time, to be able to pay his off. However, this is a growing trend. And I don't see it as a bad one... of higher education being free. The only drawback is that it IS coming from tax dollars. That's the whole idea. Maybe they removed zeros to forgive loans, but free education isn't free. And something else most ppl don't know, you have to pay taxes on the money that was forgiven. Loan forgiveness is considered the same as money earned. Not only that, but if it is a high amount, you could face penalties for not having anticipated this windfall - in other words, for instance, with your employment, tax is deducted from your paycheck throughout the year, to lower you end of year debt, if you have any. With this windfall, you owe way too much, and you could face a penalty. See a tax expert about this, they can get you out of it, or you can explain yourself that this was unexpected.
I’m glad they’re getting a break but the fed requires that a student undergo loan entrance counseling that explains in detail their rights and responsibilities as a borrower before they can borrow.
Student loan debt is paid for by taxes and directly comes out of out pocket and our children's pockets. The greater our countries debt weakens future outcome. With regards to student debt we as a society have promoted a higher education for every career path but the truth is most college degrees and expense are worthless
Money is energy and a contract that is being wiped away someone’s contract to pay their loan their debt their contract. There is a transfer of energy or value for the money that is disappearing from this loan forgiveness which is not helping only a distraction and reason for political reasons.
Or how about those of us who struggled to pay for it on our own as we went? Not really fair to those of us who didn’t rely on loans to get us through but worked hard to make sure we wouldn’t be in debt in the end.🤷♀️
My son is in the same boat. You know where he is today? He’s working at Lowes to pay for his education. You know where his friends are today? They’re hanging out with friends at a frat house collecting other peoples money. I told my son even though your road may be more difficult this will mold you into a man and will give you work ethic and character when you are through. That will be a much greater life lesson than getting handed 10k.
Ppl without children pay taxes for other ppls kids to go to school. Let that absorb in your thoughts. Not trying to be mean, just pointing out your "not fair" with regard to free education.
What? You do realize that you cannot even work your way through school anymore. It took me working either 2 jobs or a bunch of overtime and maximum federal student loans and Pell Grants just to cover one of the least expensive universities in the nation. I did work shorter hours when my husband worked full-time and covered rent but still had to work. Also, at the point he was chipping in, I did not have any loans being taken out.

They're two sides of the same coin, D's and R's. Student debt should be forgiven, but only if, going forward, we'll all agree that 18-year-olds shouldn't be allowed to take on $80,000 of debt. If that means universities have to lower their tuition costs, so be it.
Think of this like a bucket. Money being created when the loan is being given out is water going into the bucket. A person paying down the debt is a hole in the bucket removing money supply from the system. Telling people they do not have to pay their student debt and magically removing balance would be making thr hole in the bucket smaller. The loans being paid off already added water to the bucket and snapping fingers will not raise that water level in the bucket but will reduce the holes in the bucket slightly now (if monthly payment size reduces) and more later (when loans are paid off sooner than they would have, or well say less total amount paid). People paying is deflationary, magic debt erasing is not deflationary. Just imagine. To put into medical terms think of how I believe you are not supposed to take a monoxide inhibitor with an SSRI, think if SSRI as inflationary, increasing the serotonin perhaps in the synapse (I may have some details wrong) but the mono oxide breaks down Serotonin I believe) so, its like the hole in the bucket. You now take a monoxide inhibitor and now you have serotonin syndrome. The counter force to maintain equilibrium is removed. You can argue that the mono oxide inhibitors did not create any Serotonin but it removed a counter balancing force that maintained equilibrium. I say technically you can say based on my understanding its true that forgiving the not increase the money supply but it will remove a deflationary force in my opinion and increase inflation but perhaps over a longer duration spread out vs if this money was just created and dumped in the system. I want to note that Trump did have a high burn rate. The biden burn rate is not far behind. The next president probably regardless of party will spend just as much. People would have a s*it fit if the government actually tried to be responsible and make sacrifices required to pay down the deficit, lots of important programs would have to be cut or removed. There might be some Trumpers that are not liked by many people who watch this channel who do not understand the nuance or how many things actually work, but sometimes common sense means a lot they know somehow they are paying the bill for these peoples college. Where did the money come from to pay for these peoples college? It came from either the governments treasury or the money was created magically and people will be taxed via inflation. People got 10k of college for free the money comes from somewhere, if there was no harm we couy then just buy everything we wanted the same way right? Last but not least student loans themselves and even worse if people don't think they will have to pay them back only encourages people to lay any price for college, when college subsidizes something the price is going to go up. I would note that also 125,000 might sound like a lot but, I bet some drs have student loans of 500,000 k or perhaps more, not sure. 10k would be a drop in the bucket paying it down, however it should not be assumed there are not drs making a high income by many peoples standard but not forking alot over towards student loans. Im sure I am preaching to the choir in saying someone has to sacrifice a lot to become a dr.
it probably would have been more widely accepted to just have the irs credit every social security number with 10k. And have them frame it on available money to use on student debt or if you already paid student debt or didnt take out any- 10k for everyone
Hey Dr. V how you doing ? YOUR so missed... hope you and your family are doing well and ur just busy because of your ranch. Please say a quick hello just to let us know your fine and doing well .
I think I know what you are generally saying, that they do not have to create money to remove the debt. The part I think needs to be kept in mind is that when the loan was created I assume one agrees then that money was then added into circulation and when someone pays it off that money then moves back out of circulation. If you no longer need to pay it back this money then keeps this money in circulation. Think of a more extreme example where all student loans in the future are issued out and forgiven thats is increasing money supply. A Forbes article said inflation would be offset by people starting to pay their loans again. This would imply that people making payments is deflationary, removing money from the system. I am sure how they think that logically makes sense its like something who is eating 5 McDonald's cheese burgers a day. Then starts eating 5 burger king cheese burgers and say it has no impact on your health because you stopped eating 5 McDonald's cheese burgers. A deflationary force has been removed by removing thr debt though some could be delayed effect if their payment size stays the same. If the size of their payments drop then money will leave the system slower. The student loan would be paid off sooner without paying the same total amount being paid hence removing the deflationary force of making payments sooner. I believe creating student debt is inflationary and counter balanced by people playing the debt taking money out of the system and sending it back to the magic place it came from. So this video is in a sense right if we already took the inflation hit of the loans but that is normally counter balanced by people paying the debt, though its not all paid back bit but alot is.
Speaking of psycho social issues. The cost of becoming a mental health clinician is disproportional to the income of a mental health clinician. This is why we have a shortage of mental health services. We're going to need much more than Biden's small loan forgiveness to fix that.
