@@Idk-what-to-change-it-to hi I’m engineering major I’m not specifically areospace but I have a lot of friends who are areospace. if you like math and physics, you’re probably gonna like to study engineering. That being said when you are working in the engineering field, you probably will not be using math and physics.

@@GothAngel98 Lots of people go into 'business' thinking it's a good open-ended major if they don't yet know what they want to do, but 'accounting' is what they really want to get into, as it's the language of business and strictly technical with none of the fluff (or stigma) associated with a business major. Even if you decide not to be an accountant, it's valuable being able to speak the language of business, read financial statements, and perform financial analysis.

Weirdly, she probably had the most open and objectively true answer, "I don't know, I don't know all of them". Everyone else had preconceived notions based on air and the echo chamber of what everyone else has been repeating since I was in college 10 years ago and probably longer than that. You clearly don’t understand what they teach in that major. Knowing accounting is really useful whether you are business owner or an accountant. Mark Cuban himself had said that accounting is one of those crucial things that you have to know as a business owner. A well respected accountant can make 6 figures quite easily,accountants are always needed and finding job as an accountant is not hard. Finances are quite OP field in business too, Finances degree from well respected university can land you a really nice job in banks, investment companies, etc.
@@grass1659 idk man, accounting here is under business, lots of unis have it like that. There are also finances too. If you know what you are doing then you can absolutely get a nice paying job out of college after finishing business studies.
Communications girl already has a leg up on everyone else because she is perceived as kind and a sweetheart for not wanting to belittle other fields of study. Perception is huge in life and as someone currently working in HR on the recruitment side, I often hear from hiring managers that they’re not looking for someone who knows the hard facts, they want someone who will be a good fit for the team. Comms girl will get a job before any of them, especially with businesses needing qualified individuals running their social media presences.
I was a communications major because I hated school and just wanted a degree so I could be done with it and make my parents happy.....now I make $120k a year. Beauty of that major is that you can do ANYTHING with it and it doesn't box you in to a specific field or industry. It's more about your hard work and savvy-ness in finding the right job after you get the piece of paper...

I majored communications. I went to school in a weird time period with technology. Internet was young, social media didn't exist and this school wanted to be cutting edge but didn't have a budget so I was told that everything was going to be VR and simulations and I went to class every day for 4 years and played Sim city 2000, flight simulators and watched training videos from the late 80s about jobs I never would have and was told we'd all be in a digital world by now so employers would want people who understood it. Then the school went bankrupt and closed so I didn't pay for any of it. That part of my life is like a fever dream.
Interesting, meanwhile I studied PR (Communications) and work/ have worked for some of the biggest corporations in the world. These youth know nothing.
The communication girl is just sweet. She don't wanna insult any major. Like in my country you have to choose a group. Between science, commerce and Arts. Arts is the easiest among them. And science consider as the toughest and smartest. When you will go to university they will give you major on the basis of your group. So I was confused about which group should I choose. I did some research I got to know that Arts has the most job option. Wheras Science options are quite limited and very competitive. I wanted to choose Arts. As I don't want to be doctor or engineer. But my parents forced me to choose science. And here I am. Sometimes people choose easy sub not because they are dump or not smart. Infact they wanted it because they think about future. Like what they will do after graduating.
I think you're Indian? Do not worry though, if you graduate high school with a Science degree you can get into ANY field in University, even take up Humanities subjects. Sucks to have brown parents who push their children to take up Science in +2 though, I can understand. But hey its not that bad I guess, since there are plenty of jobs in STEM (probably much more than other fields) in India even though its competitive.
Don't worry bro. Most indian kids choose their stream based on advice from parents, relatives and teachers. You're not alone. Our education system makes us take life decisions at a very young, naive age; that's why we end up hating those choices.
Communications will help you land a job almost anywhere basic though. I know people that went for aerospace and coding and still can't find a job. Meanwhile communications helped plenty of my family members land amazing jobs. I just think too many dumb people go in for communications now thinking they don't have to do anything.

I guarantee any job you can get with just a com degree you can get with an engineering degree too. If engineers are failing to get jobs it's because they're only trying for high salary engineering positions.
as someone in comms, comms kids are really nice. they don't like belittling people and oddly enough, are quite introverted. the job scope for comms are very wide so i don't see why these kids think comms is dumb.

Bro Economics and Business for sure. I can make an integrated system with excel, access and some self compiled code that will render any accountant useless. Legit I haven't touched my business diploma in so long it's worthless compared to CS.

Unless you want to do R&D, really no need to study aerospace engineering. Mechanical Engineering grants you access to a wider gamut of opportunity - even in the aerospace industry. 😅
I have a CS degree and the comm classes I took during uni helped me a ton too since I had terrible anxiety doing presentations. Improving my public speaking skills helped set me up for success for the daily meetings/presentations at work.
I’m premed, but I took the basic communication class and intercultural communications. Intercultural communications was a very useful class and it helped me understand how people from different cultures communicate.
People underestimate how effective communication can be, especially if it comes to something related to business, media and advertising is extremely important in that arena
The problem is the courses don't actually enable you to practice being effective at communicating. There are better classes that more accurately targets your needs. There is literally the intro to business class I took. That was better than the communications classes. You want to be good at using media? Computer classes. Gives you way more experience. Advertising? Advertising class. Or if you're the one designing websites or logos? Graphics design. So many classes that actually allow you to practice to be good at what you need to be good at. Communication classes is about sitting down and listening to a teacher lecture you... "all around you are noises and sometimes noises from other people that are words. sometimes the noises can and cannot get to you. you see in this model there is information influx and information outflux" a bunch of abstract models and concepts that have no real world applicability.
I'm doing English with film studies. Want to work in the film industry as a writer and director. If that doesn't work I can still make six figures as a technical writer so at least I can live my second from first dream of traveling and having nice things ❤️🙏

Why would any major be dumb, isnt learning regardless of its worth to someone else, valuable? People that call others dumb for learning, need to do some learning on self awareness.
It’s the fact that these options are offered to children at crippling prices. Colleges make these people feel like their decisions are reasonable and intellectually noble when what they’re really doing is throwing you into major debt that you may be stuck paying off for the rest of your life because the choice you made that they told you was advisable, actually equipped you with zero necessary skills to be able to pay off the expense of the virtually worthless degree. If your parents are willing to allow you to make a horrible investment with their money, that’s all well and good, although I do think it is pretty disrespectful to take your parents money and party for 4 years under the guise of a real education. People study communications because it is universally known to be the easiest degree, so the class is largely filled with people who barely can handle being at the college (many of them athletes) and others who have decided to party as much as possible for four years. Learning is valuable, but just because you get a degree doesn’t make it real learning. Real learning is exhaustive. Real learning generally requires that you acquire skills associated with both the information and the acquisition of the information that are transferable beyond that given subject so that it can be integrated into your life and make you a stronger more powerful force in the world. Do what you want…but college has essentially become a business that allows people to feel legitimate as they lie to themselves and their parents.
Communication is soo important people just don't know how to use it. It will lands you some huge position jobs because you have that on a resume. Learnig how to professionally communicate in business political or religious conversations is a huge win for everyone.

Bros have 0 idea what communications means. It's not about the business language or having conversations, business majors do this next to running numbers and predictions. They kiss ass. Communications & media is about processing information from a system to a person, figuring out how people can best understand what you want them to know or do. Sure, some tone of voice and cultural nuance is taught, but it's more about User experiences and understanding that every single person is an idiot that needs his hands held
There's two business schools not far from where I live. Nearly all the kids there are sons and daughters of wealthy families that want their kids to work in their family company or just business or finance in general. The students themselves seem to not know where they'll end up though, but they don't have to worry either way cuz their parents have them covered. It's not stupid to study business, but it's often where rich kids end up when they don't have a set goal.

I'm an introvert and communication major taught me a lot about communicating, networking, making business connections far more easier because you know the way.
A bachelors degree in communications can get you a 6 figure income with the same work as any other 4 year degree, especially in Human Resources or management. I could care less about if people think it’s dumb or not. It’s a well rounded degree. Communication is part of the foundation of human interaction and industry. With all the codes of conduct that exist at various companies, it does many some good to have decent communication skills.

@@jadentran9895 In reality the only way you can get into corporate nowadays without a degree is through networking. Not a lot of people have that hence why a degree is useful. More so nowadays when employers use LinkedIn so your qualifications & experience is very much needed to stand out.

I was majoring in communication and it's the best choice i've ever made. It literally turned me into an out and wellspoken individual that even when i didnt finish my study due to family circumtances, it still helped me getting a job and climbing up that corporate lader.
Yes doctors also lack communication skill too and look at where they are. It’s not something that you needs 2-3 years to learn. It’s like teaching your kids to say hello when greeting old people. You don’t need a degree for that

The answer is psychology, and let me tell you why: most anybody can get a decent starting job in their out of college with just their field with a bachelors degree. If you want to be in the field of psychology you likely won’t be making it very far with just your undergrad. Most people in the field of psychology *have* to get post-graduate education. That being said, if you’re willing to go all out with it and get that Master’s or Ph.D by all means go for it because psychologists do make good money, but don’t expect simply *just* your undergrad to pull much weight

The dumbest major is "undecided" because anyone making the choice to go to college, (especially those taking loans to do so) should know what the endgame is and why they're choosing to start their adult life from behind. Going to college just to go is one of the worst things you can do, figure out what you want to do, and have a plan before you enroll in college. Not having a plan is the reason millions of adults end up with huge debt bills without the skills/degree/job that would allow you to pay it off and thrive.
I majored in Communications and landed my first job with the central bank of the country I am residing in through university. I worked there for 2 years and then left for something better. This degree is a good academic foundation. Another good thing is that you have options with Communications. However, not the highest of salaries for sure. So, it’s best that you have a plan ready as many of my classmates just went for it because it was “easy”.
I honestly think business is a pretty dumb major. It is versatile, however of it is very formulaic and common sense. You learn about business when you’re a player, not a spectator.
Idk a communication degree is at least as good as any other liberal arts degree, if not a bit better since it isn’t as niche as most others. You get the piece of paper and some more writing practice and that’s all you really need for most jobs based around soft skills
Communication is so much more than that tho?? You can go for journalism, advertising, events planning among others and even when you're not planning on going for a specific job, most companies will hire you just for having that degree.

There are alot of majors within the buisness major. Accounting, finance, marketing, Insurance, and Real Estate are all petty good majors that come with a lot of technical knowledge that you need if you want to go into that feild.

Communications is actually really useful. I can’t think of a correct answer for this question. All of them are really cool if you find someone who’s passionate about the field to describe it to you. I think what determines whether it’s a dumb choice depends on what you want the education for. But on their own, every major is pretty fascinating. I think the problem is that a lot of people see education as a tool to obtain a higher paying job, and therefore, they assume that everyone pursuing a major that’s less likely to offer high-paying professional opportunities is dumb, even though they might be pursuing education for other reasons.

@@ApostleThe344 Just because I value education for its own sake doesn’t mean I don’t want to prosper financially. I got a degree in sociology, but I’m currently working as a business analyst for a software company. While both involve analyzing numeric data and working with people, there’s not a lot of overlap in terms of professional skills. But that’s ok, because I’m good at my job, and I still highly value what I learned in school. Self-education is a very good skill to have too, but even if we can assume that your sources of knowledge are trustworthy, you don’t have teachers to call your attention to your mistakes, and you are less likely to encounter information that you didn’t specifically search for. Those are very important factors in a quality, well-rounded education. And tbh, regardless of what your degree is in, the mere certification you get from graduating opens so many doors. Once again, my knowledge of sociology isn’t directly relevant to my job as a business analyst. But having a degree proves that I was at least competent enough to graduate college, and that made me a much more attractive hire to employers. So I got to study something cool AND prosper financially. I also paid out of pocket, so I don’t have any loans to worry about either. Education is what you make of it. If you think yours was a waste of time, then I’m sorry you picked a lame major and wasted your money when you could’ve learned something that actually interests you instead.

They don’t have a strong background to have enough confidence to go medical, finance, or engineering fields…
i love when people think communications degrees are worthless and stupid. i was a communications major and went into tv broadcast production and wrote/produced news casts. learned alot about multi tasking, working on deadlines, having to pivot because of quick changes and how to use the internet to get info i need as well as getting info i needed from people as well. used those skills to start my own company. not even 35 yet i make 6 figures and have over a 1.5 mil in assets that can be converted to cash anytime. thanks useless degree. the truth is dosent matter what you major in. the smartest most successful people i know have bs degrees or are college/highschool dropouts.

Not quite. They also do lots of other things. One of the big ones is they know a lot about graphic design and tools like adobe, and you can make bank off of that.
