The teachers are still getting paid, so why should they care?

My brother once said: "College is all about connection. Harvard isn't a better school because they have access to knowledge that no others schools do, they teach relatively the same things there as at our local Community College. The difference is while our CC will accept just about anybody, Harvard has stipulations that filter only the most exclusive people. It's maybe 20% education and 80% who you make friends with for future business, connections and opportunities." This makes sense to me. If education is truly ehst universities are selling, why would Stanford, Purdue, Harvard all have FULL SEMESTER courses on RU-vid, for free? I watched Stanford lecture series on evolutionary biology, the only difference between me and a student there is I don't have a paper saying I did it. With all this being said, if college is just online zoom classes... is it even worth your money?

Take away their paychecks and see how fast they open up the schools again...

Fun fact, I took a Life Management class recently which was worth 3 credits, it was packed full of SJW nonsense, and 30% of my grade was reading a teachers powerpoint presentation which you had to buy access to, then copy the teachers notes verbatim then upload them to her in pdf format, and she literally just graded me on the way my notes were formatted. If everything was single space 12 pt roman with the right amount of page breaks you get an A, if there's a double space or tab that is off, she will give you a bad grade. Complete waste of time.

I go to school in a red state and live in a blue state a half-hour away. I am so tired of schools being closed down. I had a few in-person classes in the fall and I honestly felt very safe, but this semester, all of my classes are online (only two of which have live lectures and the other four have no lectures at all), and it feels like I haven't been learning anything. I'm lucky that I can pay my way through school, but it feels like a colossal ripoff. I'm not getting the education I've been promised and it sucks.

Not sure if this is important to what they’re discussing, but Biden and his staff are now saying it’s to only get K-8 back to school full time in the first 100 days. California is set to reopen schools in a week or two, not sure if full time or hybrid teaching.

We NEED to be in school. The whole covid thing is bs, and when I go to school I’m completely happy and I get to talk to people. Our mental health is never mentioned. I’ve developed more anxiety over this lockdown, and I don’t even have friends to talk to outside of school anymore.

These students seem smarter than UF. Now whenever i see college students around Gainesville, (UF) now i see just students and not really educated.

in my school if you don't participate/don't turn on your camera you get marked late or absent and you lose participation points depending on the teacher.

i’m in 8th grade at a public school in california and they say we’re going back hybrid after spring break. 2 days of in-person instruction per week. better than nothing i guess, i hope it actually happens this time. all the other times they said we were going back, it never happened. but now they’ve vaccinated the teachers, they’ve actually had everyone sign up to choose whether they want to go to school in-person or virtual, they’ve prepared the whole school with glass dividers and a plan for socially distanced seating, so it looks like it’s really gonna happen this time. i haven’t been following the election stuff too closely, but all i’m saying is that since biden got into office, things have been picking up for us students in public schools. or at least, us students in public schools that have not yet re-opened since the start of the pandemic. but then again, maybe it would have happened anyway without biden being in office.

Sooooo many schools this year are making far more then they've had in prior years, how? Their overhead from in person learning is virtually no more, yet they still charge students the same amount as always. Professors are making the same if not more from home, so why would they want that to change

The future of Colleges will be done at some point only online and the old school way of having actual classes will be thrown out the door in order to save the billions upon billions of dollars that is needlessly spent on dormitories buildings there's holes gardenings laundries etc

Hospitals will see malpractice lawsuits...... My cousin is studying to get into the medical field through online courses and he's a B+ student...... I would rather die than be under his care....... the one thing these students have right is they aren't learning s***, my cousin included and he's a B plus student... He can hardly even answer a medical based question when asked.... It is so bad that he has decided to drop out of the courses because the last thing he wants to do is have someone's life in his uneducated hands........ If things continue the way they are hospitals will begin to see malpractice lawsuits like which they have never seen..... This country is so screwed.....

To be fair, school teachers don't control whether schools open or not. That is a government decision. Every teacher I know wants to see the kids and go to work.

Biden owes all over the board and as a career politician he has been programmed from way way back to never step on the toes of the groups that got him elected. Very concerning is the fact that many of the students are ambivalent as to whether promising one thing to get elected and doing the opposite is acceptable and politics... I recall that one of the left largest negative knocks against Donald Trump was " he's just trying to keep a campaign promise ".

The question is, do you think they are right to do so, in light of the fact that they are employed to teach you, not to use you as political cannon fodder, for their own personal agendas? And remember, it is you who are paying them and therefore you who employ them.

No we shouldn't open colleges. I'm getting my bang for my buck here at home. These professors cant teach or test fairly, So when i'm taking my exam at home, I study with you tube and online resources which are way more helpful than campus resources. When test day comes and if I feel the professor didn't do his or her job in teaching me, I'll simply use "teamwork" in taking my exam with Chegg.
