Thanks for all the information provided. I have a few questions still, however. I’m researching studying an English taught bachelor in Germany, quite a few are offered especially in engineering disciplines but I’m still not sure about the studienkolleg. Do you/can you study in English at the studienkolleg? Is the entrance exam in English? (Not including the German exam of course) I understand it may differ for each college but perhaps you can help. Thanks.
@rafideoz9447
@rafideoz9447 4 года назад
I think an English language certification would be important, something like TOEFL, IELTS etc. Each program/major usually has formal requirements so you can check those for a specific program at a specific Uni and/or FAQs provided as well. Worst case, you're gonna have to call or write some E-mails! ;)
@cameronmcgee8896

@@rafideoz9447 Thanks for the response. I should clarify my question. I am English (UK) and I am wondering if the entrance exam and the studienkolleg course is in English as I don't think I am not fluent enough to study with German as the main language. Hence why I would be applying to English taught Bachelors.

Hello I have a question about the requirements for the studeinkolleg. You said that only a German language certificate like B2 and an entrance exam would be all I have to worry about. But after that will they ask me about what courses I took in the college. For example, I'd like to take T courses which are German, math, physics, chemistry and computer science. In the college I took math, physics and computer science but never took chemistry. Will they allow me to take T courses even though I don't have any background in chemistry.

Let's say I enroll in one of these one-semester studienkollegs in the summer semester. After completing the course, can I enroll in any university from the same year's winter semester? Did you go to uni directly after studienkolleg? Or was there a gap?
@rafideoz9447
@rafideoz9447 5 лет назад
That's a good question actually. It really depends when the Studienkolleg finishes. Some end a week earlier, some a week later, but they know you wanna apply to Uni afterwards so they try to end before July 15th (That's the deadline for most unis). I finished on the 1st of July but the certificate didn't come until the 11th of July. So I basically had just 4 days left (amazing math skills I know). It's doable but I suggest you prepare the online application beforehand and when you get your certificate, send it right away (post takes 1-2 days in Germany) 😉

Cuz the Anabin database holds information for almost any university in Germany, but they don't tell you if your reality meets the requirements set by your chosen uni, they only tell you if you meet the general requirements, that meaning whether you qualify or not for admission in most universities in general. Good question. Yes you can as long as you abide by those 2 rules: 1. If you're an EU citizen (+Norway and Iceland I believe) you can work as many days as you would like. If not, then there's a limit of 120 full days during the whole year. So either 120 "full" days with work hours between 4 - 10 or 240 "half" days with work hours between 1-4. 2. Regardless whether EU or not, you can't exceed 20 hours per week. (even if you could I don't think its manageable for a full time student).
