Freesia is my all time favorite in the series. The lyrics are most probably about Sol and Aria, but the person that uploaded the video chose a very nice moment between Ram and Elphelt anyway (and yes, they're sisters) I would like to recommend Storyteller for the next one :3
In Freesia you can really feel the Freddie Mercury inspirations in Daisuke very clearly Storyteller is amazing and I hope he reacts to that one next too
The slower Guilty Gear tracks are absolutely beautiful...like all of them, also causal reminder Daisuke is a major Queen fan and the slower songs are where it REALLY shows. All I can do is my favorite of all the slower tracks, but Freesia is easily my number 2 fav, followed by Lily.
"Dice." Is still my favourite Guilty Gear song of all time. While technically not from Xrd, it is a part of it's soundtrack. And as a bonus, there are 0 reactions to it on youtube so far, hint hint
Interesting for Freesia is you can interpret it in many ways. Maybe a love song between Sol and Jack-O, or the bond shared by the valentines, But interestingly enough, in the story mode, was used between a relaxing scene between Sol and Ky. So, it may not actually be a love song either. With Sol and Ky having been in conflict more often than not, Xrd was the first canonical time they were actually just chilling with each other.
man, I love freesia but I think a theme that doesn't get enough love from Xrd is "Lily" which is the ending credits theme from Xrd -sign- also, saludos desde chile
If we're doing Xrd songs you can't do Xrd without doing Heavy Day. It's fucking iconic. Same goes for Icarus, the anthem of all whiffed DPs. Also, Ride the Fire. That is the song that plays whenever Sol Badguy uses his Dragon Install in a match. This is his true Gear form. It lasts at most 15 seconds, but is also Sol at his most terrifying, most powerful, and in gameplay, most unga. That's why it has the lyrics "Guns and Steel that's what I am," because he's a gear, and "Corrupted Sun yeah that's my name." I think that one spells itself out. It's just a song about Sol going all out and saying "*Congratluations. You die immediately.*" Oh! And we missed an amazing Strive song! Talk About You! It was beautiful! I can't believe we forgot about it!
@@MouldyBoss Well, in Xrd Bedman is a man in the bed his name is Romeo. In the end of Xrd *SPOILER* he dies, so in Strive ingame charcter name is "Bedman?", and there is girl, who is his sister - Delilah. So we kinda don't know what exactly happened, but either Romeo "spirit", or part of his "spirit" somehow is in the mechanical bed, or the bed just follows his last command to protect Delilah. Hence question mark in the name. Sorry for my english, ain't my first language.
Since nobody has yet, I'll explain Raven briefly for more insight on this theme. He's an immortal originally from medieval germany. He was a solider who died during the crusades, only to wake up again and realize no matter what he did he could no longer die. After 1000 years of living, most things have grown dull to him and life has lost its savor. One of the few things that makes him feel anything anymore is experiencing as much pain as possible, the lyrics like fearing of becoming "just a machine that breathes" or "live a worthless life, that's death" reflect his ideas on living. But by the end of XRD he's gained a new purpose in being a storyteller for future generations, hopefully keeping the stories from across history alive. Raven has a lot of depth to him that I didn't get into but he's one of my favorite guilty gear characters and his theme is also one of my fave gg songs :]
Funny that you mentioned Ride the Lighting that's one of Ky Kiske's signature moves. Lot's of moves are named after songs and bands, like Millia's Iron Maiden and half of Slayer's moveset being named after Queen songs.
I just wanna let you know that your pure joy and excitement is so infectious. It makes me feel like I'm listening to these songs for the first time again.
Ride the Fire does indeed play when Sol transforms, it changes the song currently playing by force (so it kinda became a meme because Sol players always transform, even in risky situations where you want to play patient) Ky Kiske's signature attack is named "Ride the Lightning"
I haven't seen anyone comment it yet but Ride The Fire only plays when you use Dragon Install on Sol forcing him back into his Gear form. He gains significant damage output but starts actively dying so you as the player have to literally ride the fire as your health burns away. But most people who are skilled enough to weave Dragon Install in somehow are almost certain to win thus the cocky-ness of the song lyrics.
Raven theme has connection to what he is. He was a German soldier during the Holy Crusade in the Middle Ages whom is found himself immortal. He has observed humanity for very long and becomes subordinate of That Man (Asuka). Obviously being immortal and can’t die he needs something to keep himself grounded, so he inflicts pain on himself. This explains his main design where he is covered with bandages and that big nail on his head. Gameplay wise, he possesses a stance that allows him to absorb any attack and it will empower certain special and super. Basically? Raven is immortal whom has observed humanity since the 1st Crusade whom becomes a Sadomasochist to keep himself sane.
Freesia is perhaps about Sol before Jack-O came into the picture, he lived alone in the desert with everything to survive yet he was missing something in his life. That something being his lover from long ago... but man Freesia is straight up a banger i newrly cry too A good song you should give a listen is Storyteller from Xrd.
I think this is the only reaction I’ve found to xrd’s themes, all for it, hope next is heavy day Edit: six black heavens guns would also be awesome to see
I love that the chapter is falsely called "rode the fire" ....cause Sol doesn't have dragon install in strive....remember what they took from us sol bros.
Gotta throw Dear Song into suggestions for later Xrd songs. And yeah, unfortunately Raven isn't (yet) in Strive beyond a brief cameo in the story mode credits.
Some song recommendations: -Six Black Heaven Guns (20th anniversary song) -Heavy Day (arcade theme, and very obviously related to Asuka and Sol) -Divide my heart (probably the most emotional song in guilty gear, and def should end a video on)
Well, now that you've listened to the credits song from Xrd (Freesia), you should listen to Strive's ending songs, Talk About You and Name of Heaven. Also, Wanna be Crazy from Xrd's soundtrack is pretty good.
The vocal tracks in the Xrd series are what led me to look up Naoki Hashimoto, which had me get his band's self titled album, OUTRAGE. I'm trying to get the other albums as well since I fell in love with the self titled album.
also if you want to hear more xrd songs, I would recommend "call shot" , "does the sheep count the sheep" and "storyteller" for if you want more songs w lyrics :]
Raven was the first character to ever have a vocal theme since his playable debut in the action-adventure version of Guilty Gear, Guilty Gear Overture (Unless you count Order-Sol or Leopaldon) His Overture theme is called "Worthless As The Sun Above Clouds", so you can see why his Xrd theme is related to the moon
oh please you have to do the Xrd Character Themes. They don't usually have vocals but the character is instead given through the instrumentals and they are so fucking badass.
Alright then, personal recomendations: Sky should be high, Juno (lyricless) and One dawn (lyricless), Icarus (ballad). The middle two are themes for Jack-o, to who's theme in strive you already reacted, and Dizzy - a character speculated to be in season 3 characters roster, and why it's important is that Daisuke loves to leave some hidden "winks" on his older work on these characters, i wonder if you can see it in Jack-o's Juno and maybe in future in Dizzy's theme like how us, having the same reaction as us, guilty gear players, when Daisuke drops his new banger and references something inside of it. (Dizzy has another theme, Awe of she, but it's not Xrd, it's from older game than that, so, if you want to you can also compare to old OLD gen songs)
Also you were correct about ride the fire: It starts to play, in match, overriding any other track that played, when sol badguy player uses "special move" called dragon install and transforms into a gear, of course, starting with that hype as hell READY OOOOOOOOOOOOR-
Raven is an inmortal being, he became so accostumed to not worry about dying that his life became dull and "meanigless", not thriving for his improvenment, just enjoying the pain he could feel as a masochist to feel something.
Ride the Fire has to be one of the most epic songs in any game. It does actualy play when Sol transforms, and it continues to play even after you revert to normal. When Sol uses dragon install (hits transformation), you basically just get to be completely over-powered for around 10 seconds with the best moves in the game before having to change back to normal.
I just want this man to react to all the vocal tracks from the GG series but I definitely can't wait for him to react to Lily, Storyteller, Icarus, Wanna be crazy, and All I can Do from Xrd. Though the only songs missing from Strive is "Name of Heaven" and "Talk About You" which would be nice to see his reaction to as well.
Ride the Fire is a song written for one attack, Sol's Dragon Install overdrive. He basically turns super saiyan for 10 seconds and basically dies if he doesn't win in that time. Despite the fact that DI sol might temporarily be the strongest character in the game, it's usually considered a bad move. So yeah, 3 minute song for a 10 second move that isn't very good... but damn is it cool. It does hijack the music for the rest of the round, though.
I'd love to see you react to some of the Blazblue Soundtrack. Black Onslaught II, MUST DIE, Childish Killer II, Plastic Night II - all really good choices I think you'd enjoy for their unique sounds and riffs, and of course, it's Daisuke's work :D Thanks for another dope breakdown of songs I love
Freesia my beloved. I love Strive, don't get me wrong; but Xrd's music is just so unbelievably good. The ballads in Xrd especially are phenomenal. As for song meanings: Big Blast Sonic is an expression of Guilty Gear's philosophy. Tsuki no Shihai is Raven being extremely depressed about the state of the world and his own immortality leaving him no more paths to travel, and so he embraces chaotic pain. Freesia is about Sol missing his dead wife. Coming Home is unclear who specifically it is about. Ride The Fire is a song that plays when Sol transforms with a super move that lets him go fuckin nuts in-game.
Dude, you should listen to Sky should be high (Vocal) and Heavy Day at the very least. Storyteller and NSFW are very cool too. And the lyrics are very important too.
Raven isn’t in Strive yet. There is alot of characters from older games who aren’t in strive. It’s kinda sad but we are slowly getting the old cast along with some new characters.
Now i hope you can see how hyped all us older GG players were when we realized EVERY chracter would get a custom vocal soundtrack Daisuke is a Rocker, Anime, Philosophist
