Thank you, probably the clearest, most concise demo ever. Cheers.

Wow....This is a major problem for new uses, and in most cases, they jump right back into Ableton Live. Will share with everyone. Thank you!

Brilliant ! Cheers.. Definitely one of the only tutorials I've been able to find that clearly outlines how to move files to new locations using studio one. Nothing Presonus provides even comes close !

Hi, thanks for taking the time to make this vid. I'm trying to get opinions: >For those with only one ext. SSD drive, Is it more important to move SONGS & PROJECTS, or, SOUND SETS, to the new drive when considering general performance? Question 2: >Is it still an overall improvement in performance if one moves BOTH (songs/projects & sound sets) to the same ext. SSD drive or does doing this begin to negate performance benefits? Thanks again, Cheers

If we are talking about SSD, it's a bit different than with HDDs. A HDD literally has to spin and have the head move to access data. With an SSD it can just be accessed. I guess the only thing to think about would be overall bandwidth of a single drive. So, you may not see any performance improvements. Though another reason to record to a different drive would be in case of OS failure and you have to re-install the OS or replace the drive. If that happened (and it has) you would lose all of your recorded material. In the scenario you presented to me, I would probably record to the secondary drive ASSUMING the connection is as fast as SATA III (6Gb/sec). Ideally you would have at least 3 drives. One for OS, one for recording, one for sample content. This ensures no bottle-necks (though it's less of an issue when talking about SSDs), it preserves OS drive space and SSD life, and it ensures in case of catastrophic drive failure you won't lose everything. You should also have a BIG 4+TB external drive to use as a backup, IMO. This should be a HDD, since you're just using it for backup.

@@BenoniStudio Thanks very much for the response. It seems, from what you say, 3 drives (OS+Songs+Sound Sets) is best practice and generally most reliable. Understood about the 4th drive for back up, as well. I'll probably get a 3rd drive at least so as not to combine songs and sound sets on one ext. drive. The ext. drive I have is a Samsung T7 SSD, but not SATAIII, I guess: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0874XN4D8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Hope that's gonna be alright. Only one way to find out... work! Cheers.

Thanks for the clear explanation but I have a question that I can not seem to find an answer to: Why when I change the SoundSet and Instrument Library location path to an external HD and remove the default paths, after restarting Studio One those default paths keep coming back. I have tried many times to get rid of the annoying old paths to no avail. Many thanks in advance for any feedback. Best, MaxT

did you try removing the path in Studio One? You could also just delete the folder if it bothers you - just make sure it's empty and your soundsets are installed where you want first. I too, dislike apps putting sample libraries in my Documents folder 😠😠

@@BenoniStudioThanks for your kind reply! I have tried everything with my knowledge but nothing worked... I even went into the Windows AppData and managed to find an edit a file where it stores the various SoundSets location paths but nothing worked.I suspect that when installing Studio One some registry entries are created that unless you know where to go there is no way to stop the default location paths to keep coming back... I personally detest this software behavior but so be it!

Any problem with having two concurrent locations? For example, I like to keep my drums all in a drums location and Virtual Instruments separate.

Awesome good video. I'm still thinking about upgrading to the latest version.

Studio One is a great DAW. I like a lot about it. But there are things that could be improved too. Im still going back and forth between S1 and PT for now. PT does some things better, S1 does some things better. It worth having though, especially if you get it for $199 or less. The $199 sale is over, but Sweetwater has it for $209. If you go through Sweetwater you don't have to mess around with showing receipts of your other qualifying DAW, at least I didn't. Plus Sweetwater has financing of only a few dollars a month.

@@BenoniStudio I own studio one v2 pro. I use it for MIDI and it works really well, and it's super solid. But when it comes to mixing I keep going back to pro tools. Nothing against studio one it's just I know tools really well. Maybe I need challenge myself, start a project from beginning to end using another daw. That should be fun lol. By the way I buy everything from Sweetwater's.

Ah didn't know that. You can get the upgrade even cheaper. I really like the drag and drop functionality, the interface color, some MIDI stuff, FX Chains, etc... I do wish they would change the channel inserts in the Song page to show plugins like in PT.

@@BenoniStudio I have my plug-in set to category and manufacturer in pro tools , I would like to see that in studio one. What I'm going to do I'm going to demo the new version.
@BenoniStudio

In version 4.5 you can do that. There will be a 'Sort by' option for the Instruments and Effects and you can choose Vendor. Or choose Folder which is basically the same as Category. You can even make your own folders which is awesome.
