Studio Spotlight: Henry Strange (playback engineer for Kanye West, Lil' Wayne, A$AP Rocky, & Drake) 

This man taught me how to play drums back in 92’ish. We used to skate mini ramps together and f around with Metallica and Megadeath covers. He even taught me how to core a head of iceberg lettuce with the palm of my hand!!!! One of the only older folks I hung around that had the patience for my persistence. Much love Shao!!!!

Hello, can smb me what playback engineer does really do? When I work with bands which are using playback, they use just DAW with the markers to start and stop playback. Reaper, Ableton, Logic, ProTools can start and stop playback. You can connect it to Drummer Drum pad, or QLab for remote. And what problem to use the mouse or keyboard space bar in DAW to start/stop the song? why do they need all these DAW controllers and sticks for just hit the songs? So maybe i underestimate the role of playbacker or I'm wrong saying that he just starts and stop the playback? Please fix me
