Toronto?!? So you’re telling me, when you get paid the same amount as people in Mississippi and Alabama, but pay California level home prices, it’s unaffordable?!?! 🤯

Canada has many laws but no enforcement. All highway speed limit is at 100km/hour but how often this is being enforced. International students are supposed to leave the country after graduation but no one is enforcing it. Temporary workers are supposed to leave the country after their work permit expires but no one is enforcing it. LMIA policy for hiring foreign workers is supposed for employers to prove that job openings have no Canadian takers but no one is enforcing the accuracy and authenticity of these LMIA applications. Canada loves to enact laws that it knows that no resources are available to enforce these laws.

I don’t think there’s a shortage of houses, I believe the are being sold to investors and large corporate landlords who can buy up the property that should have gone to regular folks.

The media keeps using the word 'affordable'. But affordable to whom? To people who make $200K per year, $300K per year?

Toronto city council put in a vacant home tax to deal with all those empty condo towers. But they only went after seniors who didn't understand or know about the requirement to declare, who didn't understand .. who had no one to assist them. A deliberate attempt to shake them down, to force them out of their homes...till the city was outed in some of the media, who mostly suppressed the whole thing.

Why broadcast a news report, on something we know that nobody at any level of government, has ever been willing to solve ? Toronto, became embarrassed about its blue collar, humble, roots, and began chasing the New York/ Chicago image. Even though, both of those cities are mired in shortfalls. Are we only to tailor city policy to visitors who stay for hours or days ? Or, should the main focus of the mayor(s) and city council be on the residents of Toronto ? These things do not happen in a vacuum, nor do they happen overnight. They are decades long policy’s and pursuits that have failed the residents. For what ? Bragging rights ? It’s about time that Canadian politician’s focus on what really matters, the people of Canada, the heart, the soul of this country we call home. As an example, “ the spa by the lake “ . Doug Ford is embarrassed about what Ontario Place was, & sold out in favour of a vision, that caters to the privileged. Not the heart and soul, of the people of Ontario. 🇨🇦✌🏼🇨🇦✌🏼🇨🇦🤨
