I'm sharing my and my friends' stories about our working experiences here in Denmark as international students, thus elaborating on some negative aspects of studying in Denmark.
Please, keep in mind that not all employers hiring internationals behave this way, but it's definitely a bigger issue and something to take into the consideration, when making a decision whether to study in DK or not. I hope this video is helpful for you! 🕊

Join a workers union, they will help you with employers that break the rules. Most of them are free if you study.

Well the situation is this: It's against the law for any employer not to make a contract with the employee. The employer can get a very large fine if the break the law. This is the reason why you should join (get a membership) a workers union, who can help you. And a lot of Danes are aware of employers who take advantage of foreigners who need student jobs ect. And we do not like it. And that's why we have specific laws that should prevent this.

I think it is a rather well known problem that, especially eastern and central europeans workers get taken advantage of. The Unions have been fighting hard against it for years. If you are not part of a union, you should join one. Most of them are free for students. While you normally need to be member, most unions will take the case of foreigners even if you are not members, since it is a well known problem. 3F especially often run campaigns focusing on informing people from eastern and central Europe about their rights.

Thank you for making this video. I’m 35, Working as a senior manager in an MNC, handling brand strategy in india. Reason I share this is because I will be soon travelling to kolding to do my masters in management next month along with my partner. All the videos I had seen till now where about all the positive things in Denmark n student life n finding jobs; but ur story really helps put things in perspective and talks about the other side which are equally important and prepares one well. Watching you share ur experiences was a bit tear jerking n moving for me; something that doesn’t kill u makes u stronger…. N I’m sure in such a young age alll the experiences u had made u stronger n tough…. Thank you for making this informative video; Best wishes

Trail time is ONLY to find out if you fit the job, ever hour you work should be paid according to Danish law. Please tell your friends to check a work place on trust pilot , I know it's mostly about the food/service in case of restaurants, but we the client are not stupid, off something feels wrong, we will tell on trust pilot

Before you mentioned labor unions, I was gonna ask if you had sought support from them. It is always worth joining a union, especially if you arrive as an outsider. They can inform you about your rights and help you navigate the legal system.

@DominikaJankowski
@DominikaJankowski 3 года назад

Can you please help me understand, if you need 12 hours a week and you had 45 hours a month of work does that mean that you work like one or two times a week? And do you get paid from that and also get the SU? Also, is that enough to have an apartment in Denmark? How much money do you end up making a month? Sorry im just so no good at math but im considering living in Denmark again as a student and i cant find these information easy.
@DominikaJankowski
@DominikaJankowski 4 месяца назад
Sorry for the late answer. Yes, exactly. With your salary and SU, you can easily make a living. Not your own apartment, but room in the dorm or room in the shared apartment. I was also able to save a little and go on holidays every year.
