This is my first introduction to these boats. Never knew they existed other than the American PT -boats. I'm 72 and have always been a maritime enthusiast. Don't know how I missed these. The U - Boat seems to have gotten all the attention in history. My thoughts.

Try to find something about the "Lürssen effect". By putting two additional rudder blades at the stern that were a bit "cross-eyed" the wake was reduced and another knot was attainable, but only under certain conditions/speeds. Hydrodynamics follow their own rules.

if they used their main warships as command ships, and then organized these things to attack convoys, along with supply and tenure ships plus commerce raider pirate haulers ships it would be a very effective strategy.
