i like how you've got your fish finder propped up for better viewing when standing. is that a box made for that purpose and storage or just something you sorted out yourself.

This is my fish finder tackle box. It holds 2 batteries. My fish finder and all the tackle I need. Of course I usually bring a separate tackle box as well (can't have too much gear to try. These boxes are used by many anglers. You can add charging ports to them and glow cups, but mine is a basic set up that I made myself. You can also buy power boxes. Here's the video I made on my fish finder box you see in my videos. It's great because I can use it on my boat or while ice fishing. I just use different transducers. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WgJtsNb08tI.htmlsi=PoPIESWUPBsv1VGk

Why you don’t put your fishing poles on the downrigger pole holders instead? Questions from newbies who will be fishing like your down rigger setup. Thanks!

I do use my downrigger rod holders, but only when I'm double stacking my lines. With my boat set up, I find it easier to use Scotty oar lock mounts and use a rod holder with them. This way, the rods are easier to access for everyone on the boat, especially my kids. Check out my double stacking video to see the Scotty downrigger rod holders in action. Here's the video. You can also watch more videos on my channel to see how my boat is set up ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Za6_CusC3s0.htmlsi=KK32KRvJ3KmbWgWG

Love your videos, 10-mile kokanee all the way. Quick and effective way to slow your boat is a drag shoot. On my 18 foot I use 2x 5 gallon buckets with holes cut in the bottom off each side to get the 1.1 to 1.5 mph. You may only need one off the back. Keep up the great work.

I'm glad you like them. I broke down and bought a Motorguide electric motor, so I shouldn't have any issues slowing down now. I've heard of the bucket trick, but lately all I want to do is jig for kokanee. Sarah likes to troll for them, so my new electric motor will be worth it.

Right on. Caught my first kokanee ever at stump. And I use those uv shirts for hunting. I burn super easy and can't go stalking through the bush for bears smelling like suntan lotion 😅

Stump has me intrigued, and I'm sure I'll be back there one day. UV sun shirts rock!

Great video! Super informative. DO you know what kind of work they are doing at the REC site? I see it is closed until June 30th. I heard it was pipeline work BUT I confirmed with Transmountain they are not in the area.

It looks like the boat launch area and parking were getting some work done to make it easy to launch and park boat trailers. Maybe a couple sites are getting put in also, but I'm not sure. There was also a nice fishing dock that was installed which will make fishing from shore easier.

@@FougereFamilyAdventures thank you! We are hoping to get there next weekend. I got a call into the REC technician for that area to verify whether open or not

Electric trolling motors do a lot better job imho of the slow speeds often necessary for trolling kokes and modern LiPO4 batteries weigh nothing and hold their juice all day! Corn is good but would also have cocktail shrimp cured up as well ... both in multiple cures/colours kokes are picky and the subtle changes make all the difference
@FougereFamilyAdventures
@FougereFamilyAdventures Год назад
You are correct. I have been holding off on buying another electric trolling motor, but broke down last week and bought one. I haven't tried shrimp, but might have to one day soon. 🤔
@dsmith2601
@dsmith2601 Год назад
@@FougereFamilyAdventures Imho corn and shrimp in chart, pink and orange, w/ each colour in anise and garlic are bare min bait options (thus 6 diff combos each of corn and shrimp). Small jars that can be re-frozen. Give ‘em choices until they tell you what they want. 2 kokes on Stump is very slow, indicating need to change something: speed, colour, location, depth, or bait.

I agree. I found a huge school at the end of my trip on my second day and was able to jig one up. I'd imagine they should be easier to find as the season goes on.
@dsmith2601

@@FougereFamilyAdventures yeah, prob no thermocline yet? Makes big difference. Ooh, jigging that I have not tried but see you’re getting dialed and folks down south seem to really do well hunting the schools and jigging.
@FougereFamilyAdventures
@FougereFamilyAdventures Год назад
I don't think the thermocline was established yet. It shouldn't be long though. Jigging has definitely become my favorite way to fish for kokanee, but trolling has its time and place, especially when exploring new lakes.

My boat is a 14ft Lund-WC. I love it. It's perfect for 2 people. The downside is that it's getting too small for my family.

Stump lake is an interesting fishery. I have heard that they start tasting muddy as the algae blooms on the lake.
