Flathead Lake is just over 27 miles long and almost 16 miles wide. That's a lot of water for boaters to cover. Most likely their in some cove or area not shown here.
I spent a lot of time on Flathead Lake in my 20's back in the 70's. Yes, there are bears, but in general, they are not running around. Bears usually will avoid areas where there are humans unless there is a lot of food available. So if you keep the area around your home free of trash, (especially food related trash) and make sure you have a locking garbage can or dumpster for your garbage pickup, you shouldn't have any problem with bears. If you see one in your yard, don't approach it. Call the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and let them take care of it. They'll most likely trap it and take it deep into the forest/mountains to release it.
