Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. It's a real stunner of a nib, and quite a pretty pen. It's hard to write or draw anything with it because you just want to make marks with it and watch the tines separate, it's such a wonder of a nib. It's almost freakish.
Thank you so much! It opens so easily that it's hard not to be distracted by how the nib works, and you really have to be careful with the upstroke. I did let one person who I trust - okay, two people, actually - use it at the show, but even that was an enormous leap of faith. A nib like this is so easy to destroy. It really needs to be preserved. I will protect it from the ravages of this world!
Nice pen! That's a 1925 pen as best as I could tell. The very end of the section looks like the 1925 photo and different than the 1933 photo. But I'm thinking that I want a pen just like that one with a fine flex nib.
Many thanks! It's from 1928 to the early thirties at the very latest because it has the Waterman's clip which came out in 1928 when the 7 was released, rather than the Clip Cap clip. This particular nib is extraordinarily flexible and rare and it's in a sterling silver overlay pen so it was expensive. You can find one with a less rare but still quite flexible nib and in lesser condition for about half the price.
@@singlesideman It's a gorgeous pen no matter what year it is! I'll try to save some money for a couple of months and try to get myself one of them. I'm hoping that I got my Omar nib fixed. I looked at it under my Trinocular AmScope and noticed that the left tine was down a tad. So, I very carefully bent the right tine down to match the left tine. I'll let it sit for a while and see if I'm still getting hard starts.
@@robertcalkjr.8325 thank you much! If you can, try bending the tine down over the feed while supporting the feed with another finger. You don't want a sharp bend in the tine.
What makes this pen significant isn't so much the model - it isn't an uncommon pen - it's the nib, which is a one in a thousand paintbrush. That's not to say that these aren't excellent and very high quality pens, because they are, but it really is the nib that makes this one so special.
