Stunning meteor flies through UK night sky

A large, bright meteor was seen streaking through the night sky over Britain on Monday.
The Met Office confirmed that a meteor had been seen after dozens of people took to social media to report what they had seen.
Photographs captured by automatic cameras as part of the UK Meteor Network (UKMON) showed an explosion of light cast across the sky at around 8.01pm.

Viewed this in Northants ❤️ ... I seen it from the moment it started to the moment it finished .... Left my parents house and always look to the skies on the walk home .... Within 2 seconds it came into the atmoshpehre right infront of me, and it was travelling long enough for me to see that there was a stunning blueish hue to the long white trail it was leaving .... But also enough time that i could see a gorgoeus bright orange tip around the front as it was burning up into the atmosphere .... I was smiling so so much I ran back to my parents and told them .... Then realised my heart was beating so fast as I love viewing the skies and this was the most profound thing I've ever witnessed while observing .... Such a truly beautiful moment 🙏✌️❤️

@@99trance going to sound wierd but literally said exact same thing to someone after all events led up to the chance i happened to be where i was at the correct moment in time facing the right way privelaged experience 🤯and thought and expressed seeing it the same way as you and trance my fave genre of music 😂🎶

@@spaceandsky1829 YES ! .... I talk about these things all the time my friend .... It's like every step, decision, thought or movement all has its specific place and purpose .... Everything working like clockwork to lead up to that moment .... It's too much to think about yes 🤯🤯🤯🤯 .... Then leading both of us, to this precise point of interaction conversing about space, existence and Trance music 🎹🎶🎼 ... Wonderful times to be alive ✌️❤️

Watched it from Sittingbourne, Kent, UK. Approx 8pm Clear skies for a change, so I was already outside stargazing. Looking west, huge orange fireball travelling from south to north. It was beautiful.

seen by myself between 8.01 and 8.03 next to heathrow london looking west travelled south to north amazing fireball

First thing my Dad said was sure it wasn't a firework 😂😂 .... I seen it and there's no debate it was anything other than a meteorite .... Absolutely flying across the sky ❤️

saw exatly the same kind 3 years ago with a red light in it's tail but could find no other reports at all at that time.. seems to be flying not falling

I saw a big meteor back in October when I was camping, it was green and went across the sky for about 5 seconds, just before it burnt up it was a beautiful red colour, it lit up the sky, one of the most amazing things I've ever seen !
