Stupid Simple Fly For Muddy Water Carp

This fly works for carp in less than great clarity. I don't know what it is or why it works, but it works. Carp also prefer it during certain times of the carp season.
It is very simple to tie, and has very few ingredients. That is the perfect combination for a carp fly.
Not only does this fly catch carp, it catches tons of sunfish as well - all species. They just don't leave it alone.
And if you want more great information about fly fishing for Texas carp, be sure to visit www.texasflyca... !

Ha! "I really don't like this fly...because it makes carp look stupid." Sounds like that's exactly the fly I need in my box.

This fly works in Lubbock, Texas! I tied this fly and had great luck with it in our ponds scattered around town. Also I really appreciate your help! The 7 pound carp I caught with this fly was the first fish I have caught on a fly I've tied. That is a great feeling!

Here in Nebraska we call that fly Carp Candy,we tie in the red tails, the body can be any bright or shiny color, very effective for Carp, panfish like it too, thanks for the video

I have a buddy who has shown me the ways of Texas carp on the fly.. I thought he was crazy until he handed me a 7wt fly rod and taught me how to cast well enough to put a fly in front of carp. Ever since ive been hooked! It is hard to see flies when they are tailing, maybe give this fly a try! Thanks for the short how to, TFC.

Your right. Simple flies work very very well. I enjoy tying the more complex things, but I will be the first to admit that I have caught a lot more fish here in Missouri on the simple plain basic flies. I am looking forward to giving this one a try.

Dang, was I surprised! With the name of the website, and the sunglasses and cap, as a Minnesotan, I was expecting to need a translator, or use closed captions! 🤣 Oh, come on 'pard--that's FUNNY! Thanks for the video, I'll give the fly a try. Might be one I can actually tie "perfectly". The comment about type A fly tyers was SPOT-ON. They're the ones with the Orvis cap, and can work "when spey casting for salmon in Alaska" into any conversation....twenty people in a fly shop, and your job is to find the one who has fished in Alaska in under two minutes. How do you do it? Don't worry, he'll tell you. I might be the only Minnesotan north of the Twin Cities to watch this in spite of it not having walleye in the title.😂

When you have time , could you fish this fly and post a video. I’m going to try this first in my local golf course pond. Then try it on the lakes in the central coast of California. Thanks again for this post.

It is just a fly I carry along in my box - standard stuff. Works better when water is churned and clarity is down. Not as good as a clear water fly - too bright.

I'm out in San Angelo fishing our spring fed shallow creeks and I can't get carp to bite any of my nymphs or wet flys. I can't wait to try this out.
@Texasflycaster
@Texasflycaster 2 года назад
If your creek is flowing, be sure to get the fly DOWN to the fish. They typically look parallel to downward, with the exception being seeds (in volume) on top. I have seen carp come up for kamikaze grasshoppers in the middle of the lake as well (a migration).

Some kind of variation of the Hybrid Carp Worm. The original pattern has black or olive chenille as a body and also a hackle. Works even better with bead eyes instead of the single bead.
@Texasflycaster
@Texasflycaster 7 лет назад
Thanks! I will try it this year. That bead allows the fly to fall on its side, and that does not help!

Works great up here in Iowa also for catfish and crappie using a hand twist retrieve.
@Texasflycaster
@Texasflycaster 7 лет назад
That twist retrieve is way underestimated. I have seen a guy use that retrieve almost ALL the time. I need to do a video on that!

Yes sir! You are quite welcome. This still works, and is excellent in low vis conditions. And quite honestly, bluegills eat it up too. If you use those new rubbery worms in place of chenille, it kills bluegill and sunfish.

Great fly. Im in rhode island. Terrestrial has been the best fly for this creek by my house for pan fish and small mouth bass. Tried this and they were killing it hard. You would think it was insulting their mother or something, with how hard they were hitting it. I wonder if other colors would work also? Or is it only gold and red? Anyone let me know, please.
@Texasflycaster
@Texasflycaster 7 лет назад
Yes. I can't keep the panfish off this fly. I am wondering if it's more the red or more the gold that gets them though? I'd try a chartreuse in place of red, and that will tell us something about the gold.

I believe this fly is called the "carpillicious" carp fly or a simple version of it.
@Texasflycaster
@Texasflycaster 8 лет назад
OK, I did an image search on Google, and they showed a huge variety with that name. "Mine" has no legs. Would love to give it a real name, as it (stupid simple) doesn't exactly look good when it goes on records! tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/action/waterecords.php?WB_code=0622

@mnovo

the D2 worm is very close (for steelhead). flyfishyellowstone.blogspot.ca/2007/10/is-it-really-secret.html Also the high water worm is similar. crofly.blogspot.ca/2010/01/steelhead-slammer-high-water-worm.html The worm float has a foam tip. All have chenille or estez bodies. The steel head slammer is close too. It's also called the egg sucking sperm fly with orage cactus. I've never seen it with the gold cactus chenile. To me it looks like a small palolo worm sucking on the golden egg. I think you have a unique version. The Texas Tickler is gonna catch carp up here real soon!

I like The Fly Shop in California. Depends on where you live actually. Saltwater Flies is another good place. I mostly buy hooks online, and have to get my hands on the feathers and fur I buy.
