Now if you try to pierce or tattoo me, that's a totally different fight. I grew up in the 60's and there's nothing new happening now that didn't already happen back then. Likewise, I have neither. Mostly because I couldn't handle the needles or the thought of getting a piercing. I have nothing against those that do. Although some should really re-think what and where they get a tattoo or piercing... I don't think I could pull it off. Some people look great, I would not, I think.

CW can be personal by the habit of the fist. You can hear their habits when they send code which is kind of like a fingerprint in a way. However it's more noticeable with a straight key operator, not so much with iambic keys. APRS isn't completely worthless. The exchange of packets is used to generate data for 2m propagation. I can also see the benefit of an emergency with the mode. However, there aren't enough digipeaters out there to pick up someone's packet.

The 2nd guy complaining about theory in the exams cracks me up. The amount of theory in the tech exam is so minor that it's hard to claim it's a real barrier to entry. Sure, extra has a lot more theory but....nobody is forced to take the extra class exam to get on the air.

The last one about fender mounts disemboweling someone really got me laughing. If anyone got hit by a vehicle with a fender mounted antenna they have worse things to worry about than a piece of sheet metal protruding from under the hood. The mirrors on my truck stick out further than my fender mount as well.

You need to cut the APRS guys some slack. I agree, it is by no means an end all solution to emergency communications (I am a member of an emcomm group here in Illinois) but I have seen it used successfully for non critical communications in an urban setting. In fact, if you want to get down to brass tacks even HF radio is at best a backup solution. True emergency comms usually relies on some form of satellite communication/tracking for obvious reasons. Don't forget, ham radio is a hobby for many people and is as much about the fun of playing with the electronics and the technologies as it is about preparing for some kind of disaster. People who are passionate about their interests frequently over value them (bowling anyone 🤣). So give them a break!

FT8: Gotta agree. When the bands suck and I cant make contacts I switch over from phone to FT8. May not get a lot of QSO's but I get log ins and that's all that really matters. And yeah, sometimes I dont want to listen to the 10th conversation of the day about the aches and pains and the weather...

Sad hams...they're everywhere! I always tell new hams to take what they want from the hobby and don't worry about the rest. Sad hams that say, "you gotta do it this way or that way" just rub me the wrong way. I'm old school to a point, but honestly, you do you, I'll do me, and everyone can get along or not. I'm not living my life trying to please people. I'm all about helping and encouraging new hams, and I'll do it till the day I die, because I love the hobby and want to help others to get the most out of it.
