"tolerance plummets" I'm not an expert so I can't really say with certainty, but in my experience the people (in my personal life) who were getting blasted on 1/2 to 2 beers were lying through their teeth about it. You only see them having the one beer at noon or whatever. They lie about the fact that they were drinking ALL FUCKING DAY UP TO THAT POINT. They ALWAYS eventually admit to drinking hard liqour before showing up, or having already had 15 beers in the morning. Maybe loss of tolerance is real. I know people I would suspect that of, but again, they always end up admitting they drink 20x more than they actually claim to or anyone else sees.

The lower tolerance thing is because the liver looses its ability to remove alcohol from the blood at a normal rate because it has been heavily abused for so many years. Its a real thing, and when your liver looses function your health is going downhill very fast.
