Taker is legendary, and nobody can deny that, but I don't think the story would have been nearly as epic without Paul Bearer. He was one of the last of the great managers.

As a real life funeral director and lifelong wrestling fan I was sad to hear of Paul Bearer's passing but was proud to be a funeral director like Bill Moody whom I found out was an amazingly caring and compassionate funeral director in real life in Alabama. RIP Paul and Bill you were a great two profession practitioner.

This one gets a thumbsup before it even premieres. I remember him back when he was Percival Pringle the third in world class. He never got along with Sunny, so he has his head on straight. I understand the economics, but wrestling needs managers again. How over would Brock Lesnar be without Paul Heyman as a mouthpiece? Nobody would know who Bobby Eaton is these days without Jim Cornette cutting promos for him. Anything that improves the overall product is an asset worth having.

Managers back in the 80’s and early 90’s made it SOOO MUCH BETTER. Then again, wrestling was awesome back then, and isn’t even remotely decent, now. It’s sucked so god awfully much for the past 15 to almost 20 years. God, it’s horrible. I miss the different factions they had with managers like “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart, Bobby “the brain” Heenan, Reverend Slick, Mr. Fuji, Jim Cornette, Harvey Wippleman, Million Dollar man (great wrestler and manager), Sensational Sherry, and even Miss Elizabeth (with Mega Powers). Of course, there were others, but those are some of my favorites, and especially certain ones of those I listed were freakin AWESOME managers.

Heenan was the absolute best. He was hilarious. He just had the look, sound, personality, and everything. The characters from those times the story lines. 85 to 92/93 man. Classic. I can remember playing with my big rubber LJN figures....which my mom has in storage for hours. The nostalgia man. In 2016, I listened to the Montreal Screw Job snippet on RU-vid. I then discovered that Bruce was Brother Love. Yet I was confused, because I thought Bruce was 40 in the 80s lol. Anyway, I noticed the STW videos afterwards, and I got hooked in 2017. That meant that I was always 80 to 100 episodes behind, until I FINALLY got caught up today!!!!! Thank you bros for the nostalgia and insight, and I look forward to future episodes!! Before I go tho, first when will you add Patreon content again? This was a great show. When Paul came back in 2000 and guided his son Kane vs X Pac, I thought Paul was funny feuding with Tori. He showed more personality and was funny in the interactions with Tori. I think that moment in 2000 is underrated cause as they said Paul will always be remembered for taking over guiding the career of the Undertaker in late 90 early 91 from Bruce. Its cool to hear the stories from Bruce about the man behind the character. We knew him as Paul Bearer but to hear the stories about Bill Moody you knew he meant a lot to Bruce as a friend and a person.

Paul Bearer in my opinion is in my top three greatest managers of all time with Paul Heyman and Bobby Heenan, he was such a unique character when he came out with the urn, the dark suit, the pale face makeup and talked in the high pitched voice, he looked and felt like he came out of the Addams Family or an old 30s horror movie. Paul was such a huge part of the Undertaker's legacy and played a big role in his success, he also helped put Kane and Mankind on the map and got them over. He was so good at drawing heat from the fans and his work as a heel in 1997 - 1998 is still to this day his best stuff ever. He is a true legend and 7 years later, I still miss him so much. Another great STW podcast. This is still one of the best podcasts, but the commercials are getting out of control. I'm happy to listen to anything that supports the show financially, especially when it fits the format of a TV or radio commercial, 30 seconds or so. The podcast opened with an almost 3-5 MINUTE long "Save with Conrad" ad. Then Silva doing testimonials. Why does that take 5 minutes to sell your product? We get it. Conrad does loans. Bluechew makes you hard. STW is starting to jump the shark. This is great content that it being ruined by ads that go on, and on, and on, and on, and on, saying the same thing. If you can't sell your product in 30-60 seconds, you can't sell. You can't annoy people into buying your stuff. I worked in radio for 20 years, make your pitch and move on. Outside of the marathon ads, thanks for giving a great, entertaining show.

The Undertaker's manager before Paul Bearer was this evangelical host named Brother Love. I always wondered what happened to that cherry-faced preacher. Apparently the Ultimate Warrior killed him before Wrestlemania 7.

@@gothchicksbongrips5712 Heenan was a legendary Commentator with Gorrila Moonson, but was he the best manager ? He managed a lot of people but who was really a Star because of him? Andre the Giant? Andre in the late 70s, 80s was a very good wrestler for his size he was special without Bobby.

@@watersandblue6001 Vince McMahon picked bobby up from the awa because he was such a good manager. Percy was too. But Bobby was at the top of the food chain

People hate Dunn because of Cornette. It's not a secret. When Cornette started making fun of Kevin Dunn on video, everyone took Corny's side instantly. The problem there is that some of Cornette's arguments are pretty dumb, mostly because it's him defending Southern Rasslin' ideas and philosophies to a guy who produces television in a different area of the country for a different audience. A good example is the NWA situation where Kevin said "that's not our audience, they won't know who they are" and Corny lost his mind. Dunn was correct. At that time, I had no idea what the NWA was because I was only watching WWF and I live in New York. I didn't read the dirt-sheets either. Corny has no problems about telling everyone that Bruno Sammartino didn't get over in the south because of his style yet Sammartino still sold those places out, something Corny doesn't acknowledge. As hilarious as those interviews are and yes Kevin sounds like an ass - I'm sorry but Corny is very biased when it comes to Southern Wrestling. If you hate Southern Rasslin, Corny hates you.

I agree 100% and I grew up watching Southern rasslin'. Cornette was a great talent but was a terrible booker in my opinion and he absolutely does not listen to other opinions.

Corvette is in Wrestling, because of talent, Dunn is in Wrestling due to nepotism. One is a genius, and one is an asskissing sycophant.

deweigle A terrible booker? How do you come to that conclusion? Most people inside the wrestling business and outside call him one of the greatest minds in the history of the industry.

@@DBonaldi Let's see Cornette bankrupted two companies he booked, got fired twice when Vince Russo was chosen over him as a writer/booker (I mean Russo, really???), and could never get past his old ideas of what may have worked 40 years ago. I have been watching wrestling for 45 years and love the old stuff but at some point you have to move on. Other than the Hell in a Cell concept or getting Mick Foley over in WCW, what did Cornette book that you remember as being great or amazingly creative? As a talent, he was awesome but was the shits as a booker. Lots of people think he is great because he picks apart every little thing he watches and bitches about it on his podcasts. But what were his great ideas when he was a booker?
