On this episode: Rick and Scott Steiner formed arguably the greatest tag team in WCW history, and certainly have a place among the all time greats, but what is the story with their run with WWE? Learn about the plan to push Scott to the moon as a single star, what kept Vince from getting on board, their quick ascent to the title, and the reasons for their short run in the WWF. Conrad and Bruce also cover the entire run of Big Poppa Pump in the WWE; including why he was an ideal adversary for Triple H at the time, why he didn't sign when WCW was bought out, how he wanted to change the finish to the title match on the last Nitro, and much more! Also, a great discussion and insight on the process and influence of Jim Johnston, the recently released WWF/WWE music master, on this "Steinerized" version of Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard. Holler if you hear me!
Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard is an audio podcast that discusses topics, events, wrestlers and memorable moments through the lens of former WWE executive Bruce Prichard co-hosted by Conrad Thompson.
The show was launched in August 2016 on MLW Radio. The episodes typically range from 2 hours to 4 hours in length, and include discussions about previous WWE pay-per-views and former WWE wrestlers.

I loved those tag teams at that time. Stiener's, nasty boys, L.O.D, natural disasters. I was 7 or 8 around that time. I'm 6 months younger than wrestlemania n I feel like I grew up seeing all the best stuff from the best legends. Clearly remember Heenan, monsoon, piper, rude, savage, flair, hogan, perfect, Warrior, Andre so on. & in the late 90's I was 13-14 & got 2 enjoy n remember all that stuff. best generation 2 grow up a fan.

At least Triple H was capable of a decent match at that point. Scott looked like shit in the WWE. You couldn’t put a World Title on him around that time. WCW did but where are they now. Steiner was an attraction and it was good to see him again but no way you are putting him as face of the company.

No, it isn't. It starts from a vertical suplex. Scott then has to drop his opponent down and catch them for a safe execution of the move. It requires more strength and coordination than the tombstone. Nice try, though.

All of the information on the Steiner's amateur credentials you can thank me for. Conrad got it from the wikipedia page, in which I wrote all about both Steiner's credentials/awards at the University of Michigan. As to high school, (which for some reason some keeps taking down from the Wikipedia page after I put it up) Scott was a state champion in 1980 and third in the state in 1981, his junior and senior seasons.

I think once Scott went back to WWE after WCW shut down in 2001, he had that stigma against him cause he signed with WCW, the competition. I felt for Scott in his last singles run cause he was set up to fail in my opinion cause Paul Levesque, Triple H, was all that cause not only is he the World Heavyweight Champion but he is dating the boss' daughter. I think the Steiner Brothers as a tag team were too good for the cartoonish stuff in 1993. When they were a tag team in WWF then, the steroid trial was going on. It was an interesting time that was for sure.

By that time it was painfully obvious that Scott's change had hampered some of that same ability that propelled him in the early 90s. He wasn't as fast, wasn't as agile. Now we all get older but the juice and extra size took its toll.

The Steiners just never fit in with the cartoonish WWF. Much like The Road Warriors, The Steiners full potential was never met, and a lot of that was probably McMahon wanting to water down another NWA/WCW creation.
@JonBap42680
@JonBap42680 5 лет назад
I don't know about Vince wanting to water them down. But yes, the Steiner Brothers were never marketed correctly in either promotion WCW or WWF. They were really ahead of their time. Especially Scott Steiner. I salivate thinking of that Scotr Steiner vs 2002 Brock Lesnar. Dream match of mine personally.
