This video is a treasure..Elsa and Tim Blanks along with Jenne Beker literally taught me everything I know about fashion!!! Watching this video reignite my love for fashion that I had as teenager.
The fashion scene of the 1990's was so FIERCE! We didn't have search engine's nor the world wide web. Not even a cellphone camera..I enjoyed exploring my inner being ...creating unique outfit's for the cabaret scene, dinner gatherings and the wild shopping spree's when the MALL'S ..were the only option. The internet ...ugh Good & bad..though it's nice to re-visit the hey day! Of cable television, shopping catalogs ie"Sak's 5th Avenue",I.Magnin",Sakowitz..Neiman Marcus"..etc.
Many a Saturday morning was spent tuning in to this program. Elsa Klensch was - and is - a class act. Sure, shows today like Fashion Police are fun - and funny - but there’s no touching this.
Much to my older brother’s disgust, I watched this show every Sunday age from age six until it went off the air. It interfered with the NFL pre game shows. I loved it and am influenced by it to this day.
CNN STYLE By Elsa Klench is part of my teen age years. Miss waking up on Saturday mornings to watch it. Miss it a lot. Now days i watch "Flash Moda"in TVE presented by spanish model Nieves Alvarez. There is no tv fashion programmes anymore like years ago, Fashion TV is not enough. Such a shame.
I remember watchin this wen i was a kid n i wanted to b a designer, lol started drawing but never really pursued it. Thanks for the memories of wat fashion was about!
+IyaEarthseeds I live in Barbados (the Caribbean) my main interest now is early childhood education, I'm a preschool teacher. I wont say I'm fashion conscious but I still enjoy fashion shows..
my oh my- deeply sweet memories of Saturdays watching this next to my mom , dreaming of being a supermodel like those I knew by name (every one of them), then going out just to rock my runway style.....sweet, deep memories of a starkly different time in the world and for sure, in my life.
Thank you for posting this. I never watched the show. I was however Chuck and Elsa's technical and personal assistant between 2008 and 2013. We lost Chuck a few years ago, but Elsa is still with us. They were a pleasure to work with.
You WORKED With THEM? Holy cow; lucky! that was my dream; I never missed an episode every Saturday morning. My mother used to sew and she made ALOT of outfits for me fashioned off that show. She studied fashion; however I was told my father made her stay home and have children so she never got to do what she wanted which was to design clothes. She did, however, sew and made all our clothing; Jean coats including outerwear; all of it; and I mean even our winter clothes; I do believe she wanted to be a fashion designer and my father blocked all that; I loved my mom. "Elsa Klench" watching was the best. ❤🎉🌸💮💐🌹🥀⚘️🌻
I used to wait for Elsa's reports on cnn when i was a chil, and for some reason i finded her voice so exquisit and her accent, still its a pleasure listen to her, such an elegant and intelligent woman. Thank you so much for uploading this.
Wow!! I loved watching this! I believe I started watching back in 1985. I was 14yrs old and that’s when I really became obsessed with fashion. Even now at 50 I still love to be fashionable every now and then, but dark & distressed denim jeans are my number one’s 😘 #stylewithelsaklensch
I clearly remember when Marc Jacobs did at Perry Ellis with his grunge collection. Damn! Early 90s was all about grunge..I hate that period. But whatever happened to the labels of Bill Blass, Byblos, Ferre, Claude Montana and Unggaro today? And Lagerfeld was juggling his gig at Chanel, Chloe and his own label. Insane!
WOW! I USED TO WATCH THIS RELIGIOUSLY back in the day! Dang, this was 30 YEARS AGO. 8-O Though grunge definitely wasn't the fashion savior everything thought it would be, it was the beginning of the end, it brought a sartorial laziness that I don't think has ever left the fashion world (and now, thanks to covid, even worse--PJs and yoga pants!) Seeing Karl Lagerfeld before his strange transformation...the great 90s background music...and the free pre-9/11 atmosphere. :-( Wonderful to see all those gorgeous 90s models again too--especially nice to see Kristen Mc and Stella again, RIP. :-( The 90s was the very last decade where things were still really FUN: music, mindset, the models....life was joyful! Thanks for the great memories!
thank you SO MUCH for the upload !!!!! total nostalgia !!!♡♡♡ btw. this was the golden age of fashion models. they don't make them like that any more♡♡♡ LOVE LOVE LOVE !!!!
Yes. I used to look forward that morning. Her voice was perfect 👌 so people (especially Designers) felt comfortable speaking and opening up to her. Great times with her. Thank you 🙏 for posting
Thanks very much for this. Didn't have time or TV to watch it every weekend, but it's very high quality. Both Elsa and designers of course. Nice models too. The whole thing today is uncomparable.
Thank you for this!!!! Loved watching this in the 80s. The only reason I woke up early! Love the styles and all the designers that were IT back then! ❤️
I am gagging... My entire childhood encapsulated in this video. Marc, Naomi,(in Versace), Elsa, Carla, Karl, Veronica, Karen, Helena, Todd, Christy, Tati, Yasmeen, Linda, Rifat, Emma and Ana... It still feels like I know them. I would still kill for some of the clothes. So lucky to have been a teen during this era.
Gianni Versace taken too soon. 😢 Such talent and seemed like a sweet person. I miss Elsa. I loved this show when I was a kid. Ok, models playing air guitar on the runway ah hell no! 😂
I'm from Seattle & knew several so- called Grunge singers like Layne, Mark Arm, Chris Cornell & Motherlovebone's Andrew Wood who died of a heroin overdose. I can testify that 'Grunge' as a style was concocted by the Media. It was featured in Singles - a movie I was a "background artist" aka Extra in. Not real. Media hype. Ppl wear flannel bc it's cold & wet in Seattle! My friends & I prefer Velvet. 😉 and we stopped at Goodwill - no designer sh*t.
Yes keep it coming 🙏🏻🙏🏻please. I used to wake every Saturday morning to watch this, fashion television, fashion file and video fashion weekly in vh1 and E!, respectively.
Same here! Anna Wintour replaced Elsa Klensch at New York Magazine in 1981, who is said to not have worked out in the position of fashion editor. I used to find it amusing the way Jeanne Beker of Fashion Television used to pronounce Anna’s name…Anna Win-tower.💁🏻♂️🥂
I thought about this show Style the day before I saw Elsa Klensch had passed away. I don’t know if it’s a strange coincidence, but this isn’t the first time I randomly think of someone I haven’t thought of for a while, and then I find out they passed away about at the time. I enjoyed watching Style every Saturday in the 90’s. RIP Elsa Klensch.
Miss it!!!! God this was a religion to me and I was so sad when it went off the air.. a part of me is gone as nothing could fill that hole.. could not care about the garbage fashion reporting now, but I actually remember galianos first interview and Alexander McQueen's interview backwards as he would not face the camera and his show was the first one. Magic..
From 1993; Did Marc Jacobs declared that Grunge was hopeful?? Grunge was lazy! Punk was angry, but I think more hopeful because they were doing something about it. Anyway, love the almost three hours of Elsa Klench and her shows, thank you!
Pretty much all fashion eras were like that. People from the 60's, 70's, 80's, etc, wonder nowadays what were they thinking while looking back at old photos.
